M&M- What's your opinion?
« on: October 21, 2009, 11:54:41 PM »
Hey guys (and beautiful gals  ;)

i have some store credit burning a hole in my pocket and was thinking of picking up mutants & masterminds. i've looked over the basic mechanics and i like it, but i didnt get a chance to look over much else. How does the selection of powers and abilites measure up? The only other super-hero system i have is silver age sentinals....it's kinda wonky. and i'm not a real big fan of the palladium stuff. so whats your opinion?

Best supers game ever printed. I'm currently running my wife in a solo game using M&M. We're having fun. The amount of both official and unofficial fan material available is staggering. Highly recommended.

I played it a couple of times, and was really impressed by the game mechanics.

The mechanics are pretty good, though you best have some kind of plot in mind. The book's a bit more of a toolkit to build whatever the heck you'd like for your games.

Making more interesting supers need some discussion with your players though, seeing as without further elaboration, one Blast is pretty much the same as another.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Not only for superhero style. You can run anything using the MnM2e rules and some tweaking. You can play anything from anime, to starwars, to even a replacement for DnD itself with the game. I've run match ups of Drizz't vs Wolverine vs Anakin before. What other game system do you know that you could do that?

I highly recommend it and would give it a 4.5/5 (some of the more advanced mechanics can get confusing)
