At least he didn't put battle sorcerer. Stalwart's +2 HP would at least affect the total HP unlike Battle's -- but not worth it, if you ask me. I mean you'll get a 12 + 2d12 + 3d10 (40 on average) for the first six levels -- not counting CON, and with a decent score that increases to 64. If you want a good sorcerer subsitution level, take Divine Companion from CChamp, you lose your familiar but you can take obtain familiar and get a better one if you really want to -- this is probably one of the best ways to get a huge AC bonus cheaply (just buy a few wands of magic missile).

I'd rather have the familiar of a wizard 5/X 15 than the familiar of a wizard 20. You get all the good abilities in the first 5 levels anyway, and the XP cost is much lower for the first one if it dies.

take a look at Boreal Wind from Frostburn. it becomes quite nasty when combined with control winds.

Another option I'm considering for being a "controller", is taking Wedded to History (Survivor = Able to use Will for any save, but take a -1 per such use in a day), Endurance, Diehard, Steadfast Determination and Pawn in the Great Game to get virtual immunity to death. That way, I can withstand any force. All that remains is forcing the opposition to focus on me. Stand Still is crucial. Perhaps getting the ability to use Concentration for Will saves is best (Moment of Perfect Mind)?

My problem lies in how to build an effective (and fun to play !!!) character while at it. Seems doable. Fluff is IMPORTANT here.

A level of Binder + Improved Binding lets you bind Naberius, who lets you heal 1 ability damage per round and gives you incredible diplomacy abilities (take 10 as a standard action with no penalty), as well as a few other things. And you can also choose to bind other vestiges when you need to. Malphus is great for scouting.

Looks like a strong build. I'm not familiar with some of the feats, though.

You want to be able to consistently make a DC 25 fort save at level 6?  If each level you take provides +2 to fort saves, your base save can be 12.  A dragonborn mongrelfolk has 0 LA and +6 con.  If you can get an 18 base score, that's +7 to fort saves.  Add in great fortitude, an amulet of health +2, and a vest of resistance +3, for an extra +6.  All together, that's a +25 fort save.  The pride domain allows you to reroll 1s on saves.  On the 1 in 400 chance you roll 2 1s in a row, the luck domain can act as a backup.  The sacred vitality feat allows you to spend a turn undead attempt as a standard action to gain immunity to ability drain for 1 minute.  (Dragonborn gnome would work better with this than mongrelfolk.)

Thanks. I've forgotten to mention another house-rule I'd imposed: Partial Saves. That means you can't get any better than a Monk's saves at any time, among other things. Also, such items aren't within my financial scope. Good news is that the DC is 25-HD, so it's a bit easier, and I have Moment of Perfect Mind for Concentration to Will (@level 5:8 Ranks, +5 item, and assuming CON 16 (+3), that's +16 for DC 20. Fair chance, I'd say, and only gets better with levels.

improved toughness? really? and why do you need weapon focus?

on spells - Bladeweave (SPC) seems like a must (swift action for 1 round/level will or daze once per round any target stcuk by you).

greater dimension door on a swiftblade? (and if you say that swift surge works with it i will smack you).

p.s. The DM said he is nefing/banning lumionios armor and wings of cover.

Thus, while Binder was my first though, it doesn't work for Drain, IIRC, while the Vest does, eventually (too late in teh game, sadly).

Couple of quick clarifications... Naberius is a 1st level vestige, so you can bind him with just the dip, no need for a feat. Also, he does heal ability drain at the rate of 1/hour.

Updated the first post. Apparently, my DM doesn't allow for Immortality for some reason. I'm not going to argue. Next time I'll try that, I suppose.

That said, it's a rather decent PC, I reckon. Further advice?

Fellow players, I apologize. I was hoping to make do with a Tier 2-3, but was forced to go with Tier 1-2 because of out powergaming DM.

Maybe a bit late but I'm currently working in this Idea:

Heart Dragonborn (some nice race)
Dragonfire Adept 17 / Hier of Syberis 3 // Sorcerer ??? (some nasty sorcerer build)

The basic idea is to breath (with the Dragonborn's Breath) Maximized+Power Surge+Clinging+Lingering+Fivefold bolt of Tiamat+Breath Weapon of Admixture Spell, you will end doing (55d6+55)x2 = 770 damage.Or combine another efects with nasty metabreath spell like animate breat or enervating breat with enduring breath+lingering breath to rapidly drain levels: 2d4x2 Fist level then 1d4+1d4 from enduring+lingering on the  second turn, then + 1d4 from each Lingering you added (not proven to work yet, can someone confirm this???).

That way you have free to breath the weapon from the DFA for entangling breath so the enemy eat all lingerin+clinging you stack.
