Having wmv file problems.

I have a video file.  It's in wmv format and it requires Windows Media Player 11 to open.  It won't open for VLC (which is usually great about opening files) and totem says the file is encrypted. 

I acquired the file legally, so you aren't helping me break the law.

How can I play the file?  I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy), if it's important, and my packages are all up to date.
