Control body specialist build
« on: October 11, 2009, 06:42:46 PM »
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/controlBody.htm

My concept is a psion with terrible Dex (maybe even 0) but huge Int who manifests this power on himself to fight, then uses solicit psicrystal so that he can keep manifesting powers as his body fights for him.

Any ideas? Would a 3-level swashbuckler dip be worth it?

For race I was thinking of a warforged with multiple applications of the dragonborn template - I can say that the psicrystal is the real character and the warforged is something he pilots. :p

My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
[spoiler]Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

am i doin it rite?
:p

More seriously, can you even apply Dragonborn multiple times?

I'm not sure Swashbuckler 3 would be worth it - just think of the lost Manifester Levels. Does your DM let Practiced manifester give you PP?

Because you can't make AoO, it might be worth making it an archer build. Just an idea. I don't have any build in mind right now, but I'll throw out some ideas...

Factotum synergy is strong, but I don't think you'd want to lose ML.
You could go Psychic Warrior and then take Expanded Knowledge.
Warmind would fit really well into the build to I think.
Monk level and KungFu Genius or Carmendine monk do get Int to AC again.

Going Psychic Warrior would be a bad idea, because Control body works according to your intelligence, not wisdom.

With transparency, would an Incantatrix be able to persist the control body effect that's on you? If so, that means you only need to be able to manifest it once or twice per day (so a recharging tattoo would be sufficient, rather than requiring psionic levels).

The psionic levels would still be good if you want to use the strategy outlined in the OP, though.

No.

Three levels of swashbuckler is not worth the loss of MLs, in my opinion.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

I didn't even know what he was talking about. "lolwut" isn't the most informative post I've ever seen...

I did this build a while ago and I believe he was 3 swashbuckler, 7 psion (for 10th level build). He utilized psychic scimitar for his weapon, that way you are making touch attacks.

I think he was a kalashtar as well so he utilized power-link shards to boost his inertial armor to like +15 or something, so he ended up with an AC of 40 or something, all his attacks were touch and they did like 1d6 + 15 damage or something.

He was also a telepath, with schism which expanded knowledge for astral construct and control body.

edit: I forgot he was a 12th level build so that's how he took the expanded knowledge for a 4th level power.

So every round he attacked, manifested a power, manifested another power with schism, and his astral construct attacked (and he could manifest 9th level ones because of his power-link shards).

He was a one man army.

btw, it is worth going swashbuckler, not only for the double int bonus, but because it gives you a BAB of +6, just enough to give you 2 attacks a round.
