Legends of the Twins (Dragonlance) has Quick-Thinking, which is yet another feat with a +2 untyped bonus to initiative.

Kaupaer's skittish nerves  (K's skittish nerves) was renamed nerveskitter in Spell Compendium 146.  Casting is now an immediate action usable while flat-footed.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Grey elf factotum3/generalist elf wizard5/swiftblade10/abjurant champion2

2x int modifier to initative
+8 to initative with hummingbird familiar
+5 initative with nervesketter
16 BAB and 13 CL
Hummingbird is +4, and the elf wizard substitution feature only applies to "skill checks, saves, or hit points" unless you are doubling it from some other source.

This is already covered up above, especially since when that ACF was done, there were only skill, save, and hit point bonuses from familiars. It's a reasonable correction.

Ferocity, rage variant from Cityscape web enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a), increases Dex instead of Con AND allows entering rage as an immediate action even when flat-footed at the start of combat, so he may apply the enhanced Dexterity modifier to his initiative check. So yeah, that's how a barb can get +2 to +4 to initiative.

Chainmail Glove of Tarnham the vigilant gives a +1 unnamed initiative bonus, and warns the wearer of creatures with hostile intent within 120 ft. It doesn't give nearly the detail of blindsense, mindsight, or even Detect Hostile Intent, but it's not mind-affecting, isn't blocked by Darkstalker, and only costs 10000g.

Making a table ([ FONT=FIXEDSYS ] or [ TT ]) would allow easy referencing.

Bonding Rituals in the DMGII.
Ritual of Honor.
Quote
Benefit: As long as the bonded item is stowed (not held,
worn, or otherwise immediately useable), you gain a +1
bonus on initiative checks.

Is it just me, or does nerveskitter completely fail to function as written?

I'm pretty sure you can only roll initiative before you stop being flat-footed!

I'm fairly sure whoever rewrote the spell didn't read the initiative rules.

It says in the spell it can be cast even when flatfooted.

Here's a first level build with high Initiative;

Warforged Fighter 1

Important stat to point-buy: Dex 18.

Traits: Aggressive (+2)
Flaws: Shaky, Vulnerable

ACFs: Warforged Fighter (+3), Hit-and-Run (+2)

Feats: Improved Initiative (+4), Blooded (+2), Guerilla Scout (+1)

For a total of +18 at level 1.
[spoiler]Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".
