Naruto: The Eyes of Fate*Note: This is taking place in the same universe as the original story, but immediately diverges into an alternate timeline as of issue 460 of the manga. If you haven't read the manga up to date, there will be spoilers. You have been warned 
*Ten years after the events of Naruto: Shippuden, the Ninja World is a very changed place. Shortly after the conference of the Five Kage, the criminal Sasuke Uchiha made his move to assassinate all the world leaders while they were in a vulnerable position. Of the five Kage there, Sasuke was able to eliminate four of them; the Kage of Fire, Earth, Lightning, and Water. The only survivors were Gaara, the Kage of Wind, and Mifune, the mediator from the Neutral Land of Iron. Before Sasuke could be captured by Mifune's Samurai guards, he escaped. This event would set off the next Great Shinobi World War, the world having only known peace for about 15 years.
The war that ensued would be like no other. With a majority of the world's military leaders being killed in a single sweep, many shinobi would have no focus, with nations beginning to fight for the sake of it. The Land of Water was quick to appoint its next Kage, the inexperienced kunoichi, Tiki Seireihime. She had only recently reached Jonin rank at age 19, but was selected as she was the former Mizukage's student. After miraculously waking from her coma, Tsunade would reclaim her position as fifth Hokage. Earth and Lightning would bicker over who had the right to rule their lands, and would suffer from civil strife as well as their war efforts elsewhere. Soon, an event would occur that would nearly destroy the world.
Sasuke managed to kill the legend known as Killer Bee, the host of the Eight-Tailed Gyuki. With this, a monster that rivaled Ninetails itself was unleashed upon the world, with scarcely anyone left capable of sealing it away or controlling it. This would be the first time in history such an event would occur, and the Gyuki would kill untold thousands, shinobi and civilian alike. Sick of the chaos, and fearing the end of the world, Mifune would rise from his status as neutral party, and the Land of Iron made a concentrated effort to destroy each threat one at a time. Mifune flushed Madara Uchiha out of hiding, revealing him to be in control of the Eight-Tailed Demon. He then challened both Madara and Sasuke to one-on-one battles, confident his power was greater than that of any shinobi's. Unfortunately, Sasuke proved be even more powerful than he realized, skilled in all forms of combat at this point. With a masterful combination of ninjutsu, swordsmanship, and eyes that could alter reality, Sasuke defeated Mifune.
But where was Naruto, the supposed chosen one? Rumors abound that he had been killed, but this would not explain the absence of the Nine-Tailed Kitsune as well. The truth is, he was waiting, and training his power to new untold heights. Expecting Mifune to die, another warrior from the Land of Iron came to Naruto to formulate a plan to take out Sasuke and Madara for good. His name was Koraasu, and he possessed such innate cunning and knowledge of combat that he alongside Naruto were able to defeat both Sasuke and Madara and seal away their chakra, thus ending the Uchiha line for good. Finally, there was peace again, a peace that felt like would truly last forever now.
In the wake of war, many were dead, and those left had a deeper apreciation of the lives they had, and a true understanding of pain. The only leaders left of all the great countries were Gaara of the Sand, and Koraasu of the Iron. proving himself more than worthy and capable, Naruto Uzumaki was unanimously declared the 7th Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, his lifelong dream finally coming true. With this came many changes to his village, and indeed to the entire chinobi world. To protect the grand Lightning and Earth nations from total collapse, Naruto and Gaara would assume proxy leadership of both nations, respectively. For nearly a decade this powerful alliance would last, the world so sick of war that they would finally attempt to see eye to eye.
Sadly, it is beginning to look like the peace is starting to slide again. The knowledge of chakra and its application is starting to be realized by other groups, and the current Kages can barely keep this information from leaking anymore. The result of this is mercenary groups using ninjutsu to begin a new wave of crimes in the name of personal gain. Likewise, similar groups exist solely to stamp out those who would use their powers to harm and oppress the innocent. It would be an age like no other in history, where even the common man may have some small degree of chakra control. It would be an age watched over by Fate.
