Survivor a TRAP?
« on: August 15, 2009, 05:25:40 PM »
is the survivor a trap in itself?
i am talking of course about the Survivor Prc in savage spiecies.
a good prc especially in gestalt BUT

a requirement is that your highest save has to be lower that your char level...
easy obtained by level 3

just be something like fighter1/wizard1/rogue1
now your level is 3 and your highest base save is 2
so you qualify

but the moment you take your first level survivor you get +2 to all saves which now puts all your saves to +4 and your char level to 4
now you do not qualify anymore and thus would not get the benefits of the prc???

see where i am going?
i think you lose benefits of prcs if you don't qualify anymore..

like a cleric that changes his god or alignment...
or a wizard that lost int and cant cast level 3 spells anymore...

Well, the easiest way to qualify is with Commoner 1.

But that aside, it would create an infinite loop, really.

As soon as you no longer qualified and lost the benefit, you would qualify again and thusly get the benefits.

Simplest solution is to go with the obvious intent that the class doesn't automatically invalidate itself.

Anyways, that's an ENTRY requirement, not a constant.

Nah. The prereqs always matter. That's why if you have evasion through an item and then take the item off, you lose anything with evasion as a prereq.

Which tends to screw the Fochlucan Lyrist. But yeah, the easiest way to deal with this one is houseruling it.

It's never stated as a rule, but the designers assume a class can never invalidate itself.  This is the same reason the Dragon Disciple doesn't kick you out of itself.

  • It can only be attributable to human error.

I like how you can have posessions with vow of poverty.

They're not particularly good posessions, but they are posessions nonetheless. that's HERESY!
