[3.5] Is there a way to gain Special Qualities?
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:40:53 PM »
Hey guys, first post here, I did a search and couldn't find anything so I figured I'd ask all of you.  Is there a way to gain a Special Quality from a creature?  I especially want the Chokers Quickness ability. The problem I see is, Polymorph, Metamorphosis, etc. all specifically state you DO NOT gain Special Qualities.  So guys, any ideas?

Shapechange gives attacks and qualities

Master transmogrifist has that as a class ability.

Assume supernatural ability gives it to you.

Ability rip can transfer it as well, IIRC.

Metamorphic Transfer, or being an Illithid Savant would work. I rather like Metamorphic Transfer.

How does being an Illithid Savant work?  I haven't really heard too much about it (i.e. just the name mentioned).

You eat brains and get an ability of your choice from the person whose brain you just ate.

You have to be an illithid (mind flayer) though.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
You can get (Ex) SQ from Master of Many Forms7 (Complete Adventurer).
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

planar shepherd 9 gives you ex, su and sp when you wildshape into elementals and outsiders native to a specific plane

i guess by that point there is less interest in being a choker....
