I'm not trained in either Nature or Perception, and it isn't like Karito cares.

Whatever it is, we'll take it down!

edit: The +1 from my GAR glasses lenses is to saves vs. fear only, as far as I know.

After so much GARness, a good ship battle would be fun. And it would make two running ship battles for rufei right now.
Deep in the tomb of indelible gloom, an angel waits to die.
High on the peak, where only fools seek, a dragon tried to get high.
To which one we go, well f*ck if I know, the point is to question why.

Don't we still have oars on board? We could have everyone row. :D It's not much, but it might make us ever so slightly faster than the fucking cloud of acid that's coming after us.

Agreed, we need every little bit that could help.

Anyone have any way of increasing windspeed directly behind the ship? (as in, we don't want to accelerate the cloud as well)

Lessee... Chaedi's arrows can travel 50 squares, or 250 ft., in 6 seconds. That's 41.6 repeating feet per second, and quite some impulse. She can also fire two per round. She might be able to make the ship faster by firing arrows from the stern. :lol

Too bad shooting arrows from a boat won't actually generate any significant thrust, or we could use that. :D
Not to mention, you've got fewer than 120 arrows. Assuming 2 arrows per round, you'd run out of arrows in less than 6 minutes. Probably not enough time to fully escape the cloud.

Where's a good weather-control spell/ritual when you need one?  :P

Well, the thing is this is my first ritual caster. So, I was oblivious to them until I read my class which gave me a couple otherwise I don't have more than two. I had the money left to buy them, and likely some other nice things but I didn't. If it is something I can stop by targeting things, I do have Force Grasp. Otherwise I can't do much unless it comes down to combat. It is sort of embarrassing that Min has nothing to help a ship avoid danger. Story of his life.

On further analysis, I couldn't have a very good ritual for this circumstance anyway. Control Weather is nature based, and takes an hour to work. The same duration goes for the one I could have, Enhance Vessel. And that just gives a bonus of 2 to speed and defenses. If we survived long enough, Make Whole might help the sails a bit.

I might really need some help stocking up next time we can.

It's okay guys, I've got this one covered. Karito is going to stare down that motherfuckin' acid cloud.

Seriously, get ready to roll Intimidate.

Could Min and Gideon use Mage Hand to hurl 20 lbs. of air (air pressure) into the sails? Apparently on Earth, air pressure at sea level is 14.7 lbs, so putting 40lbs of pressure into the sail, I would imagine, might be enough to get the ship to move faster. Then again, there's nothing to support the idea that this would work via game mechanics, but I'm trying to think of something, dammit.  :P

14.7 pounds per square inch. I'm trying to think of something too. Like I said, rituals aren't looking to useful for time and my personal lack of them reasons. If we could suddenly cover the ship in that special clay it would be awesome. And I did read about a ritual that encases things in crystal as long as they don't move over 5 squares a round I think. And I just noticed the Summon winds ritual. That one would be useful.

Summon Winds would be great. If only we had a druid or something, we'd be in business! :D

Anyway, it seems like there's not much that powers can do for us now. We'll probably have to think outside the box on this one.
And when we get to a large enough city, I think I'll be investing in some more rituals.  ;)

Rituals are likely the easy way out. I rule that if you roll high enough, you may cast rituals at a faster pace (seriously, the casting time of rituals is retarded, IMO). Assisting is possible and recommended during rituals.

However, yes, it is likely that thinking outside the box is your better bet. A ritual can enhance your chances of survival, but it is rarely the sole factor. And well, it looks like you guys are on the right track.

Eyes and ears, here we go!

I think if Karito can conjure up enough hot air, it should provide the benefits of Summon Winds.

Hmm. It's a tricky call, and I'm going to rule no. There is a clear danger to the ship, and that indirectly affects your chances of survival. And, well, there isn't any significant slow down for rolling, so I can't quite justify allowing you guys to take 10. (Otherwise, feats like Wild Elf Agility would be nearly useless.)

Hmm... With a high enough Arcana check, could we.... invert the Smoke spell? Turn it into an anti-smoke spell, to protect against the cloud? Just a thought. Regardless, Gideon's only going to get in the way of Athletics checks, so he'll be working on the spell to unlock its mysteries. :D

I guess I will use Cabrio's poor roll as an excuse to help in this  :P
