>>> ILLYRA
"I have gazed into the Abyss and found it ... wanting."

Illyra, CN human warlock 1
wealth +6
abilities STR 14, DEX 15, CON 15, INT 16, WIS 13, CHA 18
key abilities baleful utterance (shatter spell; at-will), eldritch blast (1d6 damage; ranged touch; at-will)
key equipment skills Bluff +8, Concentration +6, Intimidate +8, Knowledge (the planes) +7, Spellcraft +7, Use Magic Device +8
penalties Disguise -2, Survival -2
feats Cloak of the Obyrith (DR 2/lawful), Otherworldly Countenance (fascinate; 1/day)
 • 2nd level: detect magic SLA (at-will)
 • 2nd level: darkness SLA (at-will)

Illyra feels the Abyss call to her; the chaos is in her blood, and she can't fight it. She knows and understands she is one of innumerable scions of the Bottomless Pit, and she knows that she will inevitably succumb to its Calling.

"Unlike many who claim Abyssal heritage, I embody it; imbued with the strength and ingenuity of chaos."

Illyra uses her beauty and her intelligence to sow chaos in people wherever her travels take her. She coddles both men and women alike, and bids them to commit evil in her name. She walks a fine line between neutrality and true evil.

...

edit: This is a pretty skeletal character sheet that provides me with basic information, and the information that I need to provide you with the challenges you want. You're welcome to include as many of the categories I have in the example above -- and I'll explain some of them:

Character Quote. Please provide me with at least one short quote that provides the "hook" for your character. It can be a bit of the character's dialogue, or it can be a descriptive bit about your character. 100 words or less, preferred.

Wealth and Ability Scores are first. This helps me determine right away your character's likely standard of living, and what they have to work with in terms of ability scores. I encourage you to keep a complete character sheet in addition to this -- this is intended for quick reference purposes, especially in the beginning, while I'm getting used to the party dynamic and the abilities of your individual characters (particularly your favored and/or "signature" powers).

Key abilities and key equipment are those abilities and pieces of equipment which your character utilizes on a regular basis, or are otherwise your favorite powers/abilities to employ. If the ability isn't a magic spell, psionic power, soulmeld, or other class feature, please provide a brief description of its basic effect. Please provide 2-3, at least, and try to keep it to 5 or less. I realize that there most characters have more abilities than that, but I want the ones you list to be the ones you consider the most important aspects of your character -- and the ones you want to use the most. Feats are also acceptable in this section when those feats are active-use, like Combat Expertise, Power Attack, etc.

Skills and penalties -- list only those which you've invested a significant number of ranks in, or that you'd like to be able to use in the campaign. I'll try to come up with challenges and situations where the DCs can be made by a character with your bonus, and that the DCs match the challenge appropriately, etc. Also, if your character has any vulnerabilities you'd like to make particular note of, put them here. Encountering and overcoming your characters' weaknesses is worth experience, I'll have you know, so never overlook an opportunity to remind me of a weakness your character has, so I can exploit it (within reason, of course  :smirk).

Feats are listed in this section, along with a brief description of its effects if it isn't a Core feat.

Milestone abilities you've listed all the important stuff your character already has, this section is for a brief forewarning of the abilities your character is about to gain, often those that will (or should) have an effect on the character's growth and development. Getting a +1 increase to BAB and/or saves isn't what I'd call particularly noteworthy, but being able to pout an extra point of essentia into your soulmelds, learning a new levels of spells or powers (1st --> 2nd), or picking up an interesting new feat or extraordinary, spell-like, or supernatural ability are all things worth noting.

All other abilities are the same as a standard psicrystal.  psicrystal granted abilities: (improved evasion, personality (Sympathetic: +3 Sense Motive), self-propulsion, share powers, telepathic link)

Description
Psicrystals are tiny, crystallized forms of magical energy that seep onto the Material Plane. Often discovered in places where emotions run extreme, such as war-torn cities, psicrystals are living, sentient creatures comparable to coral found in the sea. Psicrystals feed on cast-off psychic energy and while growing are often mistaken for precious gems. It takes decades for a single psicrystal to develop a level of self-sufficiency in order to survive away from its birth colony, and colonies are often destroyed long before any psicrystals reach "maturity."

Psychic characters with an "affinity" for psicrystals may take one as a companion. A psicrystal, once taken as a companion, merges its consciousness with the psychic and the two develop a symbiotic relationship; the psicrystal often taking on a specific aspect of the character's personality to act as a guide and scout, while feeding on the character's psychic residue. This process of feeding is quite harmless, and even proves to be beneficial for the psychic, as their psychic pathways are kept clean and clear.

A psicrystal taken as a companion is notably stronger and healthier than its wild counterparts. Given its consistent sustenance, it develops the ability to pull itself back from the brink of destruction by pulling together the same energy that formed it originally, coalescing around the seed of personality planted by the psychic.

By far, the largest known colony of psicrystals was discovered in Troy; during the nearly-eighty years of constant intrigue and warfare, it's estimated to have produced dozens of fully-grown psicrystals before it was destroyed during the razing of the city.
Backstory (still needs some work)
Khas fought for Troy, and became a Greek slave after the war. He served his master as a bodyguard, a function he'd been trained in while serving Troy, and studied Greek religious law in what little free time he had. Eventually, he helped defend his masters interests, acting as a legal advisor to him. His master was so impressed with his grasp of the laws of the gods, and grateful for his service, that upon his death, he freed Khas to the service of the church of Athena. He is now considered the property of Athena herself, but is not bound directly to the service of the church. Khas is not overly religions himself (he only studied religious law as it pertained to slavery), but is grateful for his freedom. His former master was a wealthy man, and was particularly generous to Khas when he died, leaving a portion of his wealth to him in his will. While equipping himself in the market, he saw a Resonant Stone (a Trojan artifact, which can be awakened into a Psicrystal) for sale. The merchant had no idea of its value, and he got it for almost nothing. He has since awakened it to sentience, and bonded with it.

He saw some horrific things during the war, including much treachery by the Greeks, and does not fully trust any of them. He has decided to try out for the Order of Orion in hopes of leaving Greece behind, but he knows that he'll never be truly free of it. With his home destroyed, he is forever bound to his conquerers, even in his newfound "freedom".
Spells normally prepared:
0th: Create Water, Resistance, Detect Magic
1st: Light of Lunia, Bless(B), Hypnotism(D)

Domains are Competition, Knowledge and Pride.
Backstory (a little long...):
Fighting for Greece in the third Trojan War, an unordained Preist of Hera, Nomas acted as a combat medic, running around finding drink and such for amputees, herbs for poultices and bandages for wraps. Surrounded by death and blood, the sobbing of men who would die in the night, knowing that more men would enter the tents the next day, and the next, until Greece wore itself out or Troy was pillaged was an uncomfortable thought. Apollo was the god of healing, and even he just rode his chariot from one side of the sky to the other, doing nothing.. Needless bloodshed wasn't the answer, and this thinking culminated when, during the night shift, Nomas was the only medic on duty. A man with a shattered rib had been carted in, and lay in his bed, dying. Few surgeons could save him, and Nomas wasn't one, so he was dead unless a true healer appeared. Why did the gods not save him? He seemed an honest man, worshipping the pantheon, fighting for his gods. Why then, was he dying with another watching, so impotent to help at all? Why could the gods not impose their will, ending this bloodshed? Why such suffering? Nomas did his best, praying to every god this man survive. As the man breathed his last, it began to rain. Nomas left the tent, and watched Zeus rage across the sky. Lightning flew and thunder cracked, and Nomas threw his head to the sky and cursed the gods. As he sat in the light rain, a ball of lightning flashed from the clouds, drunkenly sliding towards him. He stared at it's zig-zag float, eventually stopping 3 feet or so above the ground. it circled Nomas, then floated into the tent. Nomas ran after it, and witnessed the man with the ruined chest return to life. Obviously at least one god cared. Zeus had heard his prayer? The man thanked Nomas, despite his assertions that Zeus had saved the man. To show his newfound faith, he joined the clergy of Zeus. He was recently tasked to proceed on a Spiritual Quest, and has thrown his lot in with the Order of Orion to see where it takes him. To say he wasn't excited would be a lsight understatement.
Long-term Goal:
Nomas wishes to become a planar hero, recognized by all as he walks by. Nomas wishes to be someone, a great hero like those in legends and myths. To acheive this, he hopes to become a Demigod, ascending to Olympus and joining the gods who have been so pivotal in his life.
Hylios live for the sole purpose of attaining a successful life as one of the few in the world capable of moving the hearts of the people - as a gladiator. Hylios is aware this may not be the best choice he made in his life, due to the various kinds of wounds one suffer in this kind of life, but he is willing to fight for it, since it is only through the arena matches the people can relieve themselves from their problems, and enjoy themselves (and of course the healers that tend to his wounds after such fights also help). For that purpose he will do anything - from starting to sing all of a sudden during the match to a display of his swordsmanship, or even resorting to humiliate his foe.

Hylios treats anyone he doesn't with a indifferent, yet somewhat harsh, approach. When he discovers what is someone like, he may treat it properly or not.

Hylios is always looking at the chance of meeting a good sponsor for him (although he may not treat it so well at first), so he can get his name higher and higher, meeting unknown fighters, and entertaining his people with his fights.

Long-term Goal
Hylios's utmost wish is to become strong and famous enough to entertain the masses; to make the people love him in the arena, as much (if not more) than a king and his kingdom.
>>> AGATHANAGOS
"The wraith of the Titans is not something you want unleashed on you, my 'friend.'"

Agathanagos was born to a family of traders whom are native to the coastlines.  Despite having a somewhat priviledged life, he found the old tales to be more interesting than the conventional religions.  He got the opportunity to study with a blind binder of the titanous powers at a relatively young age, and took the opportunity to leave home at the young age of 14.  After learning all that he could, he took up some arms as a soldier for hire, gaining a modicum of fighting ability, and after 4 years left the militia.  He jumped at the chance to explore old knowledge, and is glad to join the group.
Wealth and Ability Scores are first. Wealth 7.  Human, Str 14 Dex 12 Con 14 Int 14 Wis 10 Cha 16 (that looks in-line)  HP = 26.

Key abilities and key equipment Power Attack, Improved Binding.  Usually will be binding Cerberus (Naberius) or Eros in town, Achilles (Savnok) while on a specific combat-oriented mission, and (Malphus) while traveling (Bird's-Eye-Viewing to scout for the group).  Equipment will be studded leather armor, morningstar, light crossbow (w/ 10 bolts), and 2 acid flasks (is that reasonable???)

Skills and penalties
Maxed Intimidate, Diplomacy, Knowledge: Planes (???), Bluff, Sense Motive

Feats
Power Attack, Improved Binding (you know what they do :D).

Milestone abilities
At 3rd - gets access to 3rd level vestiges, then 4th at 6th (I think), and 2 vestiges at 8th, etc.  At 7th, Otiax + Power Attack should be able to add power attack damage (but not Str) to touch attacks.  At 9th, will be adding Power Attack penalty to AC instead of 'to hit' on a charge.  Power Attack increased multiplier at 6th in some instances (Leap Attack).  Knight of Sacred Seal at 10th.

"I looked back, and it all seemed a waste.  No longer.  I dare not squander this last chance for my name to live on forever."
Defrayal Toll

Ability Scores: Adjusted for middle-age stat changes, STR 6 /DEX 9 /CON 14 /INT 14 /WIS 15 /CHA 18
Wealth: 10 (I bought an arcanist's glove)
Key Abilities: Indigo Infusion (Anything I wear can be indigo!  I look rich!  :p), Featherfall 1/day, Spellcasting (Zap Trap, Arcane Sight, Dispel magic)
Key Equipment: Wand of lesser Vigor (10 charges), Arcanist's glove (2/day, +2 Cl to first level spell), journal/spellbook.
Skills: Disguise +8, Bluff +5, profession(scribe{scholar?})+6
Penalties: Swim -2 (untrained on a ship!  ouch!), -2 attack bonus.
Feats:
Versatile spellcaster (trade two level n slots for one level n+1 slot)
Able Learner (buy cross-class skills as class skills, but same max rank.  All but useless except for qualifying for chameleon).

Coming up: More spells/day, a small bonus to saves against spells I already know.

Motivation: Pretty much spelled out in the quote.  He doesn't have any children (he was married, but his wife died young, and to compensate he threw himself into his work), and doesn't want to be the last of his family line.

Anyway, I'm ready to argue and bribe my way to victory.  Oh, and cast spells if I really need to.   :p

Here's what I'm using to design/model adventures after your characters at the moment.

Let me know if you spot any errors on your character's little blurb/profile thing.

This is for 1st-level characters ... since everyone's 1st level at the moment. :smirk

edit: Strange but true -- 1/2 of the party not only has Wisdom as their highest ability score, but also their only ability score over 16. It's possibly the only party composition I've ever had where Wisdom was the dominant ability score. (1/3 of the party has Charisma as their highest ability score, and 1/6 of the party has Strength as their highest score.)

I think you're giving me a strength bonus instead of a penalty...

not that there's anything wrong with that  ;)

lol, you're right. I fixed that. You didn't have a weapon listed, so I never even bothered to glance at the attack entry on my quick-profile.

BTW, how many points of Wealth did you lose from buying the arcanist's glove? The DC should be 19, right? I think you'd lose 2 points of Wealth from it being over 15, and also over your Wealth bonus, right?

... I feel bad, because everyone has some sort of quote defining their characters...

And I'm with the longsword equipped, the shortsword is on my belt...

Thanks, I fixed that in my master copy.

Don't worry about the quote too much. I asked for one, and about half of the characters have one.  :p

Oh, OK... I guess I have 9, then, since I rolled well and started with 11... I'm still a little confused about the system  ???.

I was basing off http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20modern/article/20020801b
"If the purchase DC is higher than your Wealth bonus, your Wealth drops a point, making it harder to afford the next big item (and reducing the purchase DC that you can make for free). If the purchase DC is 11 or more higher than your Wealth bonus, your Wealth bonus drops by 1d6 points. That luxury car may be pretty cool, but it really cuts into your ability to buy other things."

Hard and fast rules ('cause I can never remind myself too many times):
Purchase is DC 15 or higher: Wealth -1 (stacking)

Purchase 1-10 more than your Wealth bonus: -1 (non-stacking)
Purchase 11-15 more than your Wealth bonus: -1d6 (non-stacking)
Purchase 16+ more than your Wealth bonus: -2d6 (non-stacking)

DC 13 ... 1-50 gp (level 1/2)
DC 15 ... 51-150 gp (level 1st)
DC 17 ... 151-400 gp (level 2nd)
DC 19 ... 401-800 gp (level 3rd)
DC 21 ... 801–1,300 gp (level 4th)

The DCs will adjust so that an item of your level will always be a DC 15.
