Question concerning the "Dodge" feat.
« on: April 30, 2009, 10:35:53 PM »
Is there anyway to use this feat against multible opponents?
I was looking at PhaedrusXY's favorite builds and was inspired to find out if there's
a way Make defensive throw work against ...well a spread of opponents.
I'm a big fan of the Karmic/robilars  technology and was just wondering how to do
it and How early I could get it running.
I supppose I'm working on an update just to see how much new stuff can be done.
Thanks in advance for any consideration you can give the matter. -M

The Combat Focus feats can let you change your target as an immediate action, and there are alternative Dodge feats (such as the movement based one from RotW, or Psionic Dodge), but they don't select a target and thus wouldn't work with Defensive Throw as they don't designate a person to recieve your dodge bonus.
One thing I've always toyed with is Combat Focus + Defensive Throw + Elusive Target...seems like a fun build.

I've also toyed with the idea in the past but never found anything I've been happy with. Wih is right; Combat focus is excellent because being able to switch targets as an immedate action is just as good as two targets.

-Temerad Mastery I (Dragon #309) is a feat actaully lets you target two people with the dodge feat.
-The Swashbuckler class also grants you the "Dodge" ability- which counts as the feat or something. AFBs at the moment. I beleive it was the Swashbuckler at least- One of the "Raiper-sword classes"

I also suggest Midnight Dodge instead of normal Dodge because even if you do not choose a Incarnum class you can still benifit if you pick up those Essentia boosting items from MIC- That said nothing is preventing you taking both Dodge AND Midnight Dodge (Which counts as Dodge) and then benifiting from Temerad Mastery I. Dodging four people right there.

Hmmm. What sort of book access do you have? If Sword and Sorcery is allowed, there's a PrC in the WoW RPG that lets you select a number of extra people as targets for your Dodge feat (IIRC it's equal to your DEX bonus).

Rokugan Ninja gives you extra dodge targets if you take enough levels in it (I forget how many... :p ).
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks
