Q310: Who is going to start the next Simple Question, Simple Answer thread? I mean, we are at 50 pages, and I have the 999th post.....

A310: I am.

And now, the next Thread:

Q1: When using the spell binding, the metamorphosis and minimus containment sections read
Quote
Metamorphosis: The subject assumes gaseous form, except for its head or face. It is held harmless in a jar or other container, which may be transparent if you so choose. The creature remains aware of its surroundings and can speak, but it cannot leave the container, attack, or use any of its powers or abilities. The binding is permanent. The subject does not need to breathe, eat, or drink while metamorphosed, nor does it age. Reduce the save DC by 4.

Minimus Containment: The subject is shrunk to a height of 1 inch or even less and held within some gem, jar, or similar object. The binding is permanent. The subject does not need to breathe, eat, or drink while contained, nor does it age. Reduce the save DC by 4.

Using the second, since it does not specify that you cannot use your abilities, could you cast the binding on yourself, using, say, an adamantium-mesh hamster ball?

A2: Because it's board policy to lock topics longer than 50 pages, since access to them (especially posting) apparently causes the boards to recall all that information each time, thus bogging down the system.

A310: Yes, I believe that'd work, RAW.  Use with Astral Projection.

Even better is the chaining version for paranoid casters - use it on yourself, with "restraints" that are attached from your belt to your belt buckle, and now nobody can come near you as per Antipathy.

Q4 How much does a warforged with adamantine plating actually weigh? Is there a way to get a good estimate based on height ext?

Q4bWhat is the weight of adamantine per unit of measurement? 1 cubic foot weighs x while i cubic inch weighs y ect... this is secondary to help if no good answer is found for Q4.

Q6: Is this right?

Death Devotion lets one blow turns to add a negative level on a melee attack, and can be taken at 1st.

From the SRD:
Quote
A character with negative levels at least equal to her current level, or drained below 1st level, is instantly slain. Depending on the creature that killed her, she may rise the next night as a monster of that kind. If not, she rises as a wight.

And Command Undead is a 2nd level spell for Dread Necros, attainable by Precocious Apprentice.

Is this the lowest level way to get an undead minion (or at least tied w/ the Necromancer Variant in Unearthed Arcana)?

A5 technically yes it is correct but remember that was printed in the 3.0 to 3.5 transition time.  I think since then many things have been printed or rules changed to make it significantly weaker as an opponent.  so its CR should be adjusted based on how difficult it would be for a particular party, as per the DMing guidelines in DMG.

To answer a question from the previous topic

Quote from: Nachofan99
Q307: I'm looking for a weapon that can cover a variety of needs and hoping someone has the source for me.  Any Official WotC product, but not Dragon magazine.

 1) Text mentions specifically that it is usable to make trip attacks. 2) Counts as an Exotic Weapon and the hardest part, 3) Has some kind of text that offers me the Bastard Sword advantage of not having to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat.

Racial weapons can be included but in this particular case I am a half-orc so that would be most helpful.
Just build your own. "Can be used to trip" is equivalent to a die size increase or an increased critical threat range/multiplier, so trade out that part of the bastard sword stats.

So you could have
1d8 19-20/x2, can trip
1d8 20/x3, can trip
1d10 20/x2, can trip
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
As can the Illumian Naenhoon w/ Fell Animate, but I think this new one is the lowest level no-equipment needed that is there (1st level as a human, no flaws; the Undead Minion Necromancer Variant also has a skeleton at L1, but not a Wight!  That's an army-building undead!).

Q8:
Does a Warlock have a caster level?  Specifically, would Warlock levels boost an Ur-Priest's CL (they get a bonus to CL equal to half the CL of all other classes)?

The Hellfire Wyrm from MMII should it really be a CR 26 I think this is really wrong

Many monsters in 3e had inflated crs because the designers overestimated the benefits of giving them too many SLAs (it is not so useful having so many SLAs when you still have only so few actions to use them with). And half of them won't even see use in combat! Using 3.5 design guidelines, it would likely have more HD and fewer SLAs. Cr may be higher or lower depending on how the new version pans out.

But its cr would definitely be lower. If you consider that the klurichir got its cr revised from 25 to 17 (in fiendish codex), the hellfire wyrm's "true" cr might be ~18-19?

Q9) Adamantine hurricane (tome of battle) lets me attack only adjacent foes.

How does this work if my warblade is wielding a reach weapon (which would not allow me to attack adjacent foes)?

Do the 2 cancel each other out, such that I cannot attack at all?  ???

Q10: What areas does a huge creature with a reach weapon threaten with the weapon? 20-30 or 25-30? I can't find any examples.

Q11: During a full attack, can my psionic archer fire an arrow, expending his focus to use (Greater) Psionic Shot, manifest Hustle to regain focus, and then fire a second arrow using (Greater) Psionic Shot again?

I think this is legal, because the rules say you can take a free action during another action, and can take a swift action any time you can take a free action. However, since I'm actually gaining and using a Move action in the middle of my full attack, I wonder if this invalidates that. (I think this actually works, just checking).
