7,000 xp worth of magic items.
« on: April 20, 2009, 03:38:41 AM »
So, Im going to be able to remake my wizard. As a penalty however, it will take 14,000 xp to get to level 8 instead of 7,000. Which means I'll have 7,000 xp that won't be counting towards anything. So I'm going to spend it on something useful.

I have a TON of cash, and there are no magic marts in his world so we've got nothing to spend it on. It's just piling up.

So I ask you, what magic items should I make?

Decanter of Endless Water. If you can't think of a use for it, you're not trying hard enough.

Psychoactive skin of Proteus. It will cost you lots of gold and a good chunk of that XP. But it's so worth it. Be sure to read Metamorphosis and then shit yourself when you realize that you don't have the clause about not getting HP from your new CON. ^_^
OOC-well for that matter he could just ride on my sword, that's about 15' ;)

Man oh man would that come in useful.

Crystalkeep Magic Item List

Go down to page 88 and start scrolling up. Anything above costs less then 7,000 XP to create.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

The Extraordinary Artisan and Legendary Artisan feats, from the Eberron Campaign Setting book, will get you a lot of extra oomph for your crafting.

Also, nabbing an item familiar will get you an additional 10% to your XP total for craftage.

7,000 xp? 175,000 GP worth of items will only cost you 87,500 GP and 175 Days of crafting. Very nice.

I really suggest buying/making a Quill of Scribing (Comp. Mage), and having the quill turn out a few scrolls while you sleep or in your Portable Hole while you're out on the road. Obviously not a major purchase but I can attest to their usefulness.
Ah! Maddness. Thank you.

A Dedicated Wright is probably a good investment, also. Stick that in your portable hole, too.

Crafting a portable hole wouldn't be too bad.
Witty sayings? Nah, not right now. Currently playing Dwarf Fortress and League of Legends. I really recommend League of Legends.

If you (or one of your partymates) is LN, LE, NE, or CE (I think that's right), an Enveloping Pit is much cheaper, and even better (it holds more). It's a relic from the MiC.

I don't have the MiC...

You might want a Heward's Fortifying Bedroll as a wizard, since it gives you your spells back in 2 hours rather than 8.
