Hoo boy
« on: April 05, 2009, 10:55:19 PM »
Well my one of my buddies has sprung something interesting on me. He plans to DM a one-shot he has dubbed 'The Million Kobold March'. Was definately thinking of some kind of caster, but I'm not sure what exactly. This sounds like a rare occasion for the sorcerer to shine, what with his increased number of per-day spell slots. What do you all think?

DFA>Sorcerer when it comes to sheer AoE blasting. Granted, the range and damage sucks, but you don't have to worry about spells/day. Optimizing a DFA also gives you a high Con score and good HP. Getting Con to AC will help you drastically.

The sorcerer is better if you want actual spells, but for a 1-shot, I would heavily recommend something that doesn't rely on a limited number of daily abilities. I recommend a party of 2 DFAs, a Crusader, a Totemist, and a Beguiler who sits back under the effect of an invisibility spell and supports the party through unseen sabotage.

Everything Sinfire said is quite true. Personally, I'd be a Pixie Warlock. There's no way in heck a Kobold would be able to hit me, and I could keep dropping d6's on them all day long. DFA would be the better blaster. If you could abuse the Wingstorm + Humanoid shape combo, you could really clean up masses of Kobolds at a time.

I was also kinda thinking Totemist, mainly because I've never had a chance to use MoI, and this one-shot allows for a chance to use something exotic.

Also news update. Apparently, this will be in a canyon, which bottlenecks the little bastards nicely. Oh, and I forgot to mention he is explicitly using the stock MM kobold.

Then just play a Wizard, and cast Cloud Kill.

Then just play a Wizard, and cast Cloud Kill.

Or Summon Monster 3 for a Huge Fiendish Centipede. Then wish the Kobolds luck and hope the centipede likes the feast you've given him.

Summon Swarm for anything toxic and immune to weapon damage, combine with invisibility and flight to watch it chew the army up.

This so calls for a Whitespawn Dragonwrought Kobold Sorcerer!
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Great Cleave + that stance that lets you move after every attack?

Actually, they are, the only thing that enables you to move throught their army like it was butter and you a hot knife is the wolf pact tactics stance, witch is a white raven maneuver, so it means your not only a fighter, your a fighter/warblade, or a fighter/crusader :)

Or just a warblade or a crusader :)

Two things, A) WPT is Tiger Claw, not White Raven, and B) The 'march was finished 2 weeks ago. I thought this thread woulda died of natural causes.

And oh yes, there were casters present, so my overall killcount was meager. 1's on the dice didn't help either.

Anyone else thinking that one level of kingdom hearts II, where you just wade through the soldier heartless and the lesser shadows for a good, like, ten or fifteen minutes?
