Secondary Game Thread
« on: March 29, 2009, 02:25:40 PM »
Group B Game Thread is used whenever the group splits apart.

[[For those of you traveling to shore by boat, this means you. For the rest of you please continue on with the freighter and post in the main Prologue thread. Thanx!]]
"A Separate Path"

The rope ladder climb down the side of a frieghter was interesting. It swayed, and you felt constantly in danger of falling. But you each made it down safely, and into the wooden fishing boat. There is a pile of fishing net in the center of the boat, ready for casting into the sea.

Esteban uses the wooden oars to hold his craft's position against the hull of the Kingston Queen. He gives each of you an appraising look as you step foot into his boat. He wears a straw cowboy hat, a white cotton shirt, and bright red pants, He is bare-footed. He nods his greeting, but doesn't speak.

In the boat are four hand-woven baskets already containing fish caught from the sea. Behind Esteban his small outboard motor is visible, but as silent is its owner.
Perhaps Esteban is just waiting until everyone has gotten in to speak.

The man called Esteban nods in return.

In addition to Max; Dr. Loder and Sgt. Kestrel have also departed on the boat. The fisherman maneuvers the little boat away from the ship. Then pulls his oars in before attempting to start the outboard motor. After a few tries the little engine sputters to life, and soon the fishing boat is away from the freighter, and halfway to the shore.

A few minutes later the boat comes up to a small dock. Esteban ties the boat up, and motions for you to follow him into the tree line.

Behind you you can see the freighter continue on it's way to the Port.

A Second man approaches. He is also wearing Red pants, though his cowboy hat is much dirtier and older. He steps up next to Esteban and looks towards you.

The man motions towards Esteban smiling broadly.
[[ That one runs through the translator a bit rough, but I hope still understandable. ]]
Esteban nods enthusiastically up and down at his hermano's offer. You think perhaps Esteban is a little... soft. But these two seem certainly willing and able to lend you assistance.

They begin to lead the way up a winding foot path. 20 yards ahead there is a single horse tied to a tree. Small flies buzz around your faces. The gnats seem to have a special love of your ears, nose, mouth, and eyes. They aren't swarming, thank God. But they are certainly horribly annoying.

This is the first time you've been on solid land in at least a week. Your sea-legs make walking on solid land feel... strange.

Above your heads strange and colorful birds cry out to each other from perches amongst high trees and heavy bushes. Many fly overhead, snatching up stray gnats.

Once the man approaches he speaks to Esteban

He pats the rump of his horse in an affectionate matter. Esteban pulls out a leather pouch and feeds the horse a sugar cube from within it. He smiles at Paco.

Paco says answering the Doctor.

Nodding in understanding, Loder fills Max and John in on the situation.  "If you guys are ready to get going, the horse will do for our bags.  Esteban says it won't take long to get there.  There will be about three dozen Nazis in Santa Boca, but they shouldn't be too difficult to avoid."

Loder hoists his bag up and secures it to the horse's back, whispering to it in Spanish.

The path is narrow enough that you are forced to walk single file.
Paco takes the lead and Esteban follows last behind the party leading the horse by the reins.

[[ Please choose your place in the marching order. Paco is leading. Esteban will likely follow behind last unless anyone one wants to be next to the horse's ass. ]]

The Heavy forest rises up surrounding you on either side of the winding path. You can hear the sound of the waves crashing ashore, but you can no longer see the water.

EDIT:
Lead: Paco, 2nd: Henry, 3rd: _____, 4th: _____, 5th: Esteban, Rear: Horse

Max walks behind Dr Loder.

The adventurer scans the whole area around them the whole time...he does not trust anyone, especially in this part of the world and when he is dealing with nazis...fortunately the jungle is not such a big issue for him..

spot and survival checks for the rest of the trip to town
spot: 25 (second critical!)
Survival: 24!

Max suddenly spots a coral snake [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_Snake] on a rock up ahead on the trail while Paco is heading exactly that way

"Shit! John exclaims as he hears Max' warning to Paco and reflexively draws his Colt.

Paco starts in surprise. He looks embarrassed.

Paco takes his tall walking stick, and uses it to get below the snake and to hurl it into the jungle, making the path clear to walk again. He again takes the lead, walking about ten feet further ahead of the group than he had before. Clearly, he doesn't want to be shown up by gringo Max again.

The vast greenery of the plants and trees is just... everywhere. The sounds of birds echo throughout the tree canopy above, and  flying insects of all shapes, sizes and colors flutter or buzz by.

The gnats have eased up, but there are still too many. The morning was beginning to get warmer as well, adding to the thick layer of humidity that clung to everything. Sweat fills your shirts, and your hair is slick with it. It should be getting close to lunch time soon. You should be in town by then you realize, and can easily grab a bite to eat.

he says speaking directly to Henry Loder.
