It's been drizzling on and off, but it's been at least an hour since you've all arrived in the village. (Your normal status has been restored, so no more minuses for being tired!) Many of you are feeling more human already, after not having to be trekking through the underbrush still

The rain from above has been half-hearted at best this morning-- now afternoon. Clouds are sporadic, and gaps of hot sun break out from time to time, but otherwise it's a grey afternoon.

Richard strides out of the tavern, his buffalo rifle over his shoulder. He makes his way past Russo, The Kid, and Russo's gun. He gave it a little smirk as he passed, but from Richard it could have been a smirk either of approval or of mockery.

Into the mud he went, and he made his way over the the well, where Doctor Loder was looking intently into a bucket of water.

Also at this time, Max followed closely by Eisen approached the well also.

"Seems alright, but just in case, you shouldn't drink a whole lot of it..."  With that, Loder drops the bucket back down into the well.

Listen check: 19 hmmmm usually lady luck hates my guts what is with this game? also I'm just gonna assume the kid took a sip and fixed up the tripod, it's nice having a little spanish slave boy :D
Russo left the kid to his canteen and went to fetch the gun to fix it back to its stand even though he was outside the smell still made him gag a little.
unwrapping the gun he tossed the tarp to the floor unceremoniously nodding to Richard as he passed giving the giant buffalo rifle the same indeterminable smirk.
He hefted the gun and struggled to attach it to the tripod tightening the bolt with his fingers idly listening to the others around him. Finished with the gun he moved the poncho from the seat before draping the fabric over the gun half obscuring it from any passers by as well keeping it dry from some of the more determined drizzles

"So, any other ideas about what might have caused the villagers to claw themselves open like that, Doc? Anything out of the ordinary with the water? Maybe a gas instead? The germans have got some nasty chemical weapons from what I heard."

Sgt. Kestrel asks as he scans the village for anything out of the ordinary, aside from the obvious things like a lack of villagers.

Dr. Loder shakes his head grimly.  "Whatever it was, it doesn't seem to be in the water...  Should we check some of these other huts?

Doc heads between two huts to the south, heading towards what looks like an old chapel.  He approaches the door and slowly pushes it open with one hand.

Before entering the dark chapel John swings his SMG over his shoulder by the strap and takes out his revolver and flashlight. Flicking on the flashlight he takes a good look inside.
Switch to Tranter .57 and flashlight (didn't think about the chapel being dark in my last post :))

The chapel was indeed dark on the inside. It held a strong aroma of unwashed bodies, the scent was everywhere.

It was a simple, if well-built chapel made of stone and morter. The floor was made of wooden planks that gave slightly beneath your weight with a little creeeeeek...

Rather than pews, a collection of assorted chairs were aligned in a series of rows. At the front of the building a roughly hewn crucifix hung from it's place at the far wall, behind where the minister would deliver his sermons. It looked like Jesus-- but if Jesus had been carved from wood, and by a hatchet. With splinters.

Windows were shuttered closed along either side wall of the chapel and rain could be heard falling lightly upon the wooden shingled roof.
I will await further Listen Checks before I continue...
As the group slowly walks in John points towards the floor, indicating that there might be someone, or something, under the floorboards.

Pistol in hand, Loder quickly searches around for a trapdoor or set of loose floorboards.

In the rear right corner of the chapel, Loder discovers a trapdoor in the floor. It's design allows it to easy blend in with the floor boards.

Trying to whisper quietly to Max and John, Loder points to the trapdoor.  "Cover it with your guns, I'll open it on three!"
