Advancing Animal Companions/Wildshapes
« on: March 01, 2009, 05:10:00 PM »
Is there a guideline/rule that tells how far you can advance an animal as your AC before it "jumps" to the next druid-category?
Thematicly, I like the Megaraptor a lot, but at the higher levels, he's clearly inferior to Dire Tigers or Dire Polar Bears and such. How many HD can you add as regular advancement (not the extra HD of the Druid-AC advancement), before he becomes a higher category AC?
As for Wildshaping, I assume you can simply add Animal HD up to your Druid level?

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about choosing advanced animals (as in, animals with more hit dice than normal) as your animal companion, and wild shaping into advanced animals? I don't think either of those is legal at all.
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about.
I don't see why RAW a Druid wouldn't be able to Wildshape in an advanced Animal. Not that they'd need it.
Thanks for the reply!
