Battlegrids and Maps
« on: February 22, 2009, 07:52:12 AM »
I need some help locating a D&D tool I encountered before but failed to save.

It was a java (I think) map/battlegrid generator that took line of sight into account. I'm setting up an encounter in a maze-labyrinthine cave. Doing this on a traditional battlegrid would totally undermine the whole point of traveling and fighting blind.

You guys also know of any map tools for a struggling nood of a DM?

Sounds like MapTool to me.
The DM giveth and the rogue taketh away.
I have a 5 in Charisma and Diplomacy is a cross-class skill.  Hopefully I don't piss off too many people.

A note if you use MapTool: you'll want to ask on the forums about getting that to work how you want it with Fog of War. The default setting for FoW will have the players' current view in full view, but previously-seen areas will simply be grayed out (not invisible).

We're ALL rules lawyers here. The BEST at what we do, too. It's like a Tom Grisham novel in which everybody at the top law firm is a dirty crook, but they all know the rules so well that TECHNICALLY speaking, they aren't breaking them...:eh
