Einar grunts, and looks towards Thorgrim.  "He was your comrade, it is best that you decide what is to be done with his body."  He places a supportive hand on Thorgrim's shoulder.  "I regret that I had to strike him down."

Seeing the pain of the bound woman, Brynhild walks over to her and cuts her hands free.  When the woman doesn't react, Brynhild awkwardly embraces her, forcing the woman to tear her eyes away from the armored troll's burning corpse, where they had been fixated.  She buries her face on Brynhild's shoulder and begins sobbing, muttering "Thank you!" over and over.  After several minutes her sobbing wanes and Brynhild asks her what happened.  She gives a furtive glance at those of you behind Brynhild's back, and is quite clearly reticent to speak of the path that brought her here.
Yes, Nanshork, you've gotten 11 HP's back by now.
Seeing the reluctance on her face, Brynhild helps the woman to her feet and walks her down the roadway a bit, pausing outside earshot of the men to ask again what happened.  After nearly twenty minutes of talking and crying, Brynhild walks the woman back to the group and pulls her bedroll down off her pony.  She rolls it open to give the woman a soft pad to sit upon, and gives her a water-skin and some smoked fish to fill her belly.

Brynhild approaches the rest of you and begins making a show of helping in your tasks. "Her name is Groa.  They took her from her village during the dusk four nights ago.  The armored pile of filth," she says as she nods toward the troll's corpse, "took her as a wife."

The words hang in the air, and a palpable disgust grips a choking retch in your throat.  "They brought her to a great ring of spirit stones where they promised to release her if she begged a monstrous beast there to make him tougher," she says, again nodding toward the smoldering corpse of the armored troll.  "There was a trade.  A trollwife met them at the stones and stayed with the beast after.  When they left, the beast said to 'make a new daughter,' while staring and laughing at Groa..."  With that, Brynhild's uncharacteristic monologue ebbs, and the glance she throws to Groa is filled with sympathy and pain.
It is now roughly 6:00 in the evening.  You took out from the Thingvellir around 9:00 in the morning, so it's already been a long, hard day. Just FYI.
Hergierr is careful to keep his voice down, despite his alarm and disgust. "Ye gods, the poor thing... It makes me feel much better that we didn't allow them to escape. Grimolf truly did die in service to his people, I'd say... We'd never have slayed these monsters by ourselves.

We can take her back to her village, or she can return with us, as she wishes. I think we should probably look for a decent place to rest, though. Our horses are driven beyond exhaustion, and we're little better. Groa no doubt would benefit from some rest, also."

Einar nods distractedly, looking into the makeshift funeral pyre.  He'd never had a brush with death this close before and he lets out a silent prayer to Sif, thanking her for his survival.  He's sure that if it wasn't for his training in learning how to strike when those who struck first have exposed himself that he would have fallen in battle, and this strengthens his faith in training over strength.  He felt the touch of his goddess this day, and he makes a mental note to repay her.
Going to do a small bit of storytelling here. Einar is doing pyre-y things already, so I retconed him into helping Thorgrim rather than doing all the work himself. And I assume at least one person is setting up camp, whoever wants to take responsibility for that. ;)
Thorgrim sets up the Pyre for Grimolf. A proper pyre, unlike the trolls who were ignobly burned to death. Einar helps him position his former fang leader's body on the pile. As the others return from setting up a camp somewhere nearby. As the fire, begins to consume the fallen warrior, Thorgrim says some words, speaking over the crackling of the fire.

"When I was coming of age, I was overcome by wanderlust and left my village of Kolbenheim at the root of the northern mountains. Not far into my journey, I was set upon by a bear in the woods. Grimolf and other Wolves was hunting in the area and when the bear had me grappled on the forest floor, he noticed me, and threw himself at the bear to get it's attention. Within no time at all, they surrounded the bear, and struck it down. That was how I met Grimolf and the Wolves of Sundvall. I was then a man with no lodge.

"Over time, he taught me how to fight. I joined the lodge, and was even in his Fang. I looked up to him like a brother, for I had no siblings of my own. He was a good man, always looking to help others even as he sought to become stronger. But his desire for strength consumed him. Yet even today, he fought for another. Even though he would lose himself in battle, he still had a heart, and truly died a warrior's death."

Hergierr quietly relishes the brief glimpse he's been given by Throgrim's words into the very heart of Rasheman's warrior society. He feels warmed by it, and at the same time a bit bitter in the knowledge that he'll never truly be a part of it himself, due to his family history. At most, he'll be a pretender, and inside he'll always be alone.

Einar listens to Thorgrim's words, giving a slight nod at the end.  "That he did.  His last battle brought honor on himself and his clan."

As the fire burns hot and consumes Grimolf's remains, you look at the pile of items before you that were in his pouches and backpack.  From a long pouch that hung alongside his left leg behind his small quiver, you found four arrows with a red band striped around the shaft just in front of the fletchings, and two short, slender shafts with no arrowhead or fletchings, with two runes carved carved in each.  From around his neck, under his armor, you found a golden chain with two gaudy, golden baubles hanging on his chest.  In his pack you found 3 throwing spears*, one of which has two runes carved into its shaft, as well as a blanket, another half loaf of bread, and a leather pouch of 23 gold coins.  Lastly, you found an amulet around his neck carved from a section of turtle shell, but when you removed the cord from his neck, the amulet crumbled to dust, leaving the length of leather cord in your hands.

It takes nearly two hours for the fire to do a satisfactory job of consuming most of Grimolf's body, and as it begins to die down the troll fires still rage to reduce them to piles of ash and bone.  You can see within the fire that Grimolf's chain shirt is glowing hotly, still spread across his blackened ribcage.

As Grimolf's fire dies down a handful of merchants crest the rise from the south, and their creaking wheels clatter to a stop as they see the road blocked by three large fires. "What is this foolishness?" you hear one of the wagon drivers mutter as he begins climbing down from his seat at the front of the wagon.
I'm assuming you would have made camp at some point while the fires were burning. Just let me know where you would like to have set up.
Tired and in no mood to deal politely with those rudely intruding, Hergierr says gruffly "This foolishness is a funeral for a hero who died defending the honor of a woman from two trolls. You'd best pay your respects, or move on quietly."

Then trying to be a bit more conciliatory, he falls back into the diplomatic training that his mother taught him from birth and says "It should be clear enough to pass by on the East side of the road, I think."
If it looks reasonable, maybe we could just set up camp under the edge of that cliff, using it for shelter from wind and possible rain. Hergierr takes 10 on Survival to see if that looks like a decent camp spot, and also to check to see where it looks like the trolls came from originally, and where they might have been headed.
Never having felt totally comfortable with the Rashemen warrior society's way of thinking, Johan remains silent as Grimolf is consecrated. I wonder, what will happen to us now. Are we done with our part, or do the spirits have more in mind?

At the arrival of the merchants he starts to pay attention to the immediate future instead of the distant ones racing in his mind, the myriad of pathways of possibilites and experiences his imagination cause.

Making a hestitant move, as if not sure what to add to Hergierrs explanation, Johan speaks up as he points towards the two still active fires.
"Those would be the trolls, if you are wondering."
changed color, Hergierr and Johan is slowly adding up to the point where both characters comments could end up in a single post, so just to make it easier I'll be using this from now on :)
Looking quite taken aback by the rush of information before him, the merchant moves his jaw as if trying to speak, but being unable to find the words.  Eyeing the still-smoldering heaps of troll remains, he eventually finds his tongue.    With that he turns and gives orders to pull the wagons to the side of the road and prepare to make camp.  There is a small bit of protest from the other two wagon drivers, but soon they are coaxing their wagons onto the softer dirt at the side of the road, rolling their right wheels onto planks to keep them from sinking into the softer soil.  Soon the small entourage has several small cook fires burning, and the wafting scents of boiling meat and broth begin to cut away at the lingering stench of the burnt trolls.

Einar shrugs.  "It matters not to me, but perhaps we could strike a deal with the merchants.  They might appreciate the extra protection and in turn share some of their food which no doubt is better than our trail rations."

A quick proposition to the merchants brings a nervous glance toward the heaping piles of ashy troll flesh and a hearty welcome into their makeshift camp.  They offer up some of their bread and boiled goat, and they soon begin to relax with you present in their camp.  After dinner one of the merchants retrieves a wind-instrument from his wagon and begins playing a pleasant tune on his cow-horn recorder as the sun continues its slow slide from its mid-day apex.

Hergierr tries no to stare too much at the glowing armor on Grimolf's corpse. To withstand such heat, it must surely be enchanted, and he thinks it is a waste to leave such a prize on a dead man when those among the living could benefit from it. He tries to come up with a way to broach the subject with Thorgrim, whom he thinks the most likely to react badly to it.

He decides that perhaps he should wait till the morning, bind Naberius to gain access to his silver tongue, and then try to talk to the others. He offers to talk second watch to relieve Thorgrim, and uses his summoned bird so that he can scan the area around camp with it while watching himself as well.

"Take some rest friend. I will watch next."

Tired from a long day of travel, battle and staring out at the dimly lit surroundings while listening to Johan snore, Thorgrim agrees.

"Yes, thank you, friend." he tells Hergierr, before settling in for the night.
