As the fire burns hot and consumes Grimolf's remains, you look at the pile of items before you that were in his pouches and backpack. From a long pouch that hung alongside his left leg behind his small quiver, you found four arrows with a red band striped around the shaft just in front of the fletchings, and two short, slender shafts with no arrowhead or fletchings, with two runes carved carved in each. From around his neck, under his armor, you found a golden chain with two gaudy, golden baubles hanging on his chest. In his pack you found 3 throwing spears*, one of which has two runes carved into its shaft, as well as a blanket, another half loaf of bread, and a leather pouch of 23 gold coins. Lastly, you found an amulet around his neck carved from a section of turtle shell, but when you removed the cord from his neck, the amulet crumbled to dust, leaving the length of leather cord in your hands.
It takes nearly two hours for the fire to do a satisfactory job of consuming most of Grimolf's body, and as it begins to die down the troll fires still rage to reduce them to piles of ash and bone. You can see within the fire that Grimolf's chain shirt is glowing hotly, still spread across his blackened ribcage.
As Grimolf's fire dies down a handful of merchants crest the rise from the south, and their creaking wheels clatter to a stop as they see the road blocked by three large fires. "What is this foolishness?" you hear one of the wagon drivers mutter as he begins climbing down from his seat at the front of the wagon.
I'm assuming you would have made camp at some point while the fires were burning. Just let me know where you would like to have set up.
