I also did this on Facebook, but will repost. 

1) I'm a perfectionist and have a really hard time starting anything unless it'll be just right. Hence putting off this task- I'm a bit crippled in that I know as soon as I hit publish I'll think of 12 things I wish I had said instead. Oh, wait, there is a "save draft" feature... that's dangerous!

2) Related to #1, my new mantra is "done is better than perfect". I had to tell myself that over and over when I was writing my Master's Thesis. I would fiddle for months if I could- but that looming due date ignored my pleas of perfection and "good enough" had to do.

3) Related to #2, I hate settling and I hate settlers. People give up too easy when confronted with even an ounce of resistance or confrontation. You've got to at least try to get what you want.

4) Exception to #3: Space settlers would be awesome. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment if I was asked to colonize a space settlement. See ya bitches.

5) Point of clarification: I have a couple of profiles and online personas depending on the use. This is my podcasting personality which is different than my "real" self. I like to segment my life- it helps know how to deal with situations and what the expectations are.

6) Further clarification on #5- I am both extremely open and honest and pretty private. I will answer almost any question asked and will openly, loudly, discuss topics that would make others blush. But I won't talk about any struggles with anyone until I'm at a breaking point.

7) 6b- I don't quite understand many social interactions. I understand most people need external help to solve personal problems, but I've never figured out how to make that work for myself. Talking with someone will almost always spark a new thought, but actually solving the problem is a completely internal process.

8) Proof of #6- My prized Toy is a Hello Kitty vibrator. I don't use it though- it's too cute. And pokey.

9) I love to present and talk in front of an audience but hate social mixers. I fake my way through it every time. I'd much rather speak in front of 200 people than shake hands with 20 strangers.

10) I watched almost no TV growing up but had a few favorites- Dukes of Hazard, Electric Company, and The Smurfs were my friends.

11) I would "fantasize" about being able to shrink and go and save the smurfs from Gargamel. I had a stuffed Azrael that was one of my favorite toys.

12) I have lucid dreams and since I was a child I fall asleep telling myself stories in my head. Then it was about the Smurfs, now it is about traveling and meeting people and heroic feats. Sometimes my dreams have full beginning and end credits and original scores.

13) Related to #12- I have restless mind syndrome and can only fall asleep if I am overstimulated. Otherwise my brain won't shut up. My self medication involves a white noise machine, the TV on, and reading. If I'm traveling I have to take either an antihistamine or a Tylenol PM or some such and wear ear plugs to simulate my white noise machine or I won't sleep.

14) Related to #12 but in a different route- I've always felt like I should make movies. I find story inspiration everywhere-- sometimes moments that would be great in a scary movies, sometimes songs that would be great in a soundtrack, sometimes lines or phrases that I'd love to write. I haven't ruled it out yet. I have the eye for it, could lead a team well, and would direct actors well.

15) I drive fast but always wear my seat belt.

16) (obvious) I'm a total control freak. Define the Type A personality. I've always had to do it myself and it's still easier to just do it than to articulate my expectations.

17) I need physical touch. A true physiological need. There are people (and I'm one) who only feel validated as human beings if they receive enough touch. Ironically, I'm not a touchy-feely person and will rarely initiate contact, but once someone else does, my mood changes and I feel electrically grounded.

18) I like sex and don't believe in true monogamy.

19) Ethnically I'm Irish and Welsh but culturally, I'm a Mainer. People from Maine are their own breed. We have a unique outlook on life that isn't like other areas in New England. It has shaped me more than almost any other aspect of my upbringing.

20) I'm an observer. I read body language well and will rarely enter a situation unless I have had a chance to assess it.

21) I met my podcast cohosts in a production of Anne of Green Gables. Actually, no, I met Zeke a year before that on a pitch black road. He freaked the shit out of me. Almost literally.

22) I love to travel and explore new places. I like to visit grocery stores in new cities and take public transportation in foreign countries. My dream job would be one where I was traveling at least every month.

23) I want kids. Like... now. So parents, watch your babies 'cause I'm in a stealing mood.

24) Ender's Game is my favorite book ever and has inspired me in so many ways. Whenever I'm solving a problem, it helps to keep in mind, "the enemy's gate is down" to remember to not just look at an issue straight on, but sideways, backwards, and reverse time.

25) Games are probably one of the biggest influences, inspirations, and motivators in my life.

1. I moved to Japan in 2006.

2. I can speak 3 languages (English, French, and Japanese), and I'd like to learn another language for each decade that I live. Not sure what I'd want to learn next... Maybe German or Spanish.

3. I've been playing guitar for about 10 years, though I rarely practice (and the humidity here causes my strings to rust in a matter of days).

4. My family drove across the northern states in the US when I was 12. It was the best vacation I've ever had. We camped in Yellowstone National Park and saw buffalo, and I remember eating Taco Bell almost every day.

5. For several years I stopped watching TV, but have recently become hooked on a couple good shows: Supernatural, and Burn Notice.

6. I think my imagination hates me. I'm constantly seeing dark things lurking at the edges of my peripheral vision.

7. I'm not a very tough guy, but I've studied various martial arts since I was 8.

8. I tend to reread/rewatch my favourite books and movies several times over.

9. I think Puff the Magic Dragon is one of the saddest songs ever written. Losing touch with your inner child is tantamount to saying "I choose to no longer enjoy life".

10. I generally don't trust people unless I know them well. In my experience most people are not good people.

11. If you were to compare my father's CD collection and my CD collection, you'd probably find about half of the artists are the same.
