I was thinking about either a Melee type with claws and stuff, or a gunfighter who goes John Woo guns akimbo on your ass. I have absolutely no experience with FX users in Modern, so I'd like to stay away from that.

Both would look pretty human, no extra arms (which is why Charon would probably be the better gunner) or animal like features...
Although I must say, the Moreau do intrigue me, in which book can they be found? I'm currently in the process of 'acquiring' some d20 Modern stuff, hehe... :P

Moreau are in the Core Rulebook, in the monster section.  None of the group are going for advanced classes that give "John Woo guns akimbo on your ass" abilities, unless emissary changes his mind about infiltrator.  If you want to go melee, look at the Bear Moreau.  You can be large.  :D

You read my mind, I was actually hoping there was a Bear Moreau (not the avatar ;)), especially if I go Melee.

Otherwise it might turn out like a Wolverine rip (at least, in the mutations sense, probably not so much in fluff/background), or, if I go ranged, a human looking (mutations of senses and Dexterity and maybe some protection).

The Bear Moreau is definetely a viable option.  Hmmm, Strong Hero Bear Moreau would be an excellent melee base.  Could even get that mutation that mutation that gives you Powerful Build.  Doesn't that sound like fun?  :P

Not a problem, (I'm pretty sure) I've got every D20 Modern book, so if you need anything else feel free to ask.

While I really like the idea of Bear Moreau with Enlarged Form, I can see it posing some pretty stiff problems, namely of the too large to fit inside most buildings variety. I'm AFB right now, but I think Large size with Enlarged form would put you somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 or so feet tall, and weighing like 500 or 600 pounds.

If you end up sold on the idea, I suppose I would be cool with it, but you could quite conceivably be unable to go inside buildings.

If you want to decide on a language that you all know, but that most people would not so that you can talk secretly right in front of people, I think that's a great idea.

I was rereading this thread, and looking at this, I think it's an even cooler idea than I originally thought.  So cool in fact, that I will give everyone 2 free skill points that they can only use on a speak language and a read/write language.

Might I suggest urdu, or farsi?  You guys should decide what language you all know, and why you all decided to learn it.  I would stay away from a language most people will know.

Now I know klingon is a complete language, and so are most of Tolkien's languages, but is Romulan an actual, complete language that you can technically learn? Because that is quite funny, and I would consider allowing it.

Okay.  I think that if all four of you want to learn Romulan, or Rihanai, as it is apparently called, I will, against my better judgment, allow it.

I'm up for anything.  If it helps I actually know Spanish, kind of, and own a Spanish-English dictionary.

Argh!  Curse my indecisive nature!   :banghead

Bowen, if you want to go with a melee brute, I'm gonna switch to a Rat Moreau (hunter/commando type), if not, I'll build Dog into a werewolf-inspired melee monster (still focusing on survival/tracking, but more strength-based stuff).  Both are fine with me, but whichever you want is cool.

I think I'll go with a gunslinger type, mostly because of the limitations Bell described.

If you really want to go with the Rat though, I can just as easily fill the melee role as well with something else.

Tell me, are there actual Werewolves in d20 Modern, and if so, are they even vaguely playable at this level? (AFB ATM, I'll look into it in about an hour or so :))
If not, then it'll probably be a somewhat more 'Wolverine' style character...

That's cool, I'll stick with Dog.  Once I start having more than one idea bouncing around in my head it becomes nearly impossible to focus on just one.
There are Werewolves in d20 Modern, but the template is just ported over from D&D, including level adjustments, etc...

Bugger, no wolfie for me then :)

Also, just checked Bear Moreau and Enlarged Form mutation.
The biggest I'd get would be 9'6" if I remember correctly that there are 12 inches in a foot :P

So yeah, big, but not impossible to function methinks.

Anywho, I'll be going with a human gunslinger of sorts then, kind of the only 'normal' guy around :P Or is our resident kitty a covert Moreau? :)

Sheet should be up in a couple of hours tops.

Yeah, the cat guy is covert.  We've got a huge four-armed sadistic roof-runner, a permanent werewolf, a really suave catguy, and now a gunslinger!  Groovy!
