That is a simple matter, Lorag responds, who has definitely not been standing around doing nothing. He stretches out his palm and motes of light begin to swirl on it, tracing the outlines of objects.

Ferrus slips his hands into the thick woven gloves, using them to release the catches holding the metallic sphere in place and draw it from the machine. As he does so, several of the devices attached to the forge slow down and stop, their actions now silent. Grasping the device thoughtfully, he eyes the golem across the way.

[spoiler]Knowing that Veekie is rather busy at the moment, I'll pull the sphere out for him.[/spoiler]

Striding up to the golem from earlier, Ferrus connects the metal contacts to the sphere. Swiftly, before the gloves fade and give him a shocking experience.

The golem lurches to life, hissing and popping as each joint begins to move, finally shaking itself fully to life, then looking down at Ferrus and speaking. Beth ydy 'ch archebion?

Upon seeing the golem comes to its feet, Lorag's eyes expand almost comically. No one can see that, of course.
[spoiler]Do any of us recognise the language? Is the construct moving like an automaton or does it appear to be aware of its surroundings?

I don't know how we're going to communicate with this old unit, since none of us speak the language of the Liara. I am impressed that it is still functional.

Ferrus shrugs, "Maybe it'd understand one of the languages we can speak?"
He proceeds to cycle through every language he knows, hoping it'd recognise something.

[Stratovarius]

The golem stares at Ferrus as he speaks, each language producing a click from the machine, and a response of Areithia Cymraeg! It does not move.

[spoiler]The robot is minimally aware. It won't walk into you, but it just sits there waiting for commands. Limited programmer actions.

The language more or less matches up with Liaran, which is, of course, dead.[/spoiler]

"Guess we'd need a translation guide or some list of commands. Any idea where to look? We have our first functional relic here, provided a means of reproducing their power source can be uncovered..."

"Hmm... perhaps they have a library?"

[veekie]

"Only one way to know." Ferrus starts heading for the building's exit, intending to ransack the city for such a thing.

[PhaedrusXY]

Thraxis heads out in a different direction, and sends his psicrystal in yet a third. As they head out, he says "We should probably stay within shouting range, at least, in case someone stumbles into some functioning defense systems."

[spoiler]I guess I'll go North/Northeast. I'll leave my psicrystal with the others' psicrystals (assuming we're going to leave them together like we mentioned). I'll Levitate up and glide back down over and over to get a nice bird's eye view until his Levitate power runs out.[/spoiler]

Ferrus, picking a direction at random, heads northwest, towards the first visible structure.

[Stratovarius]

Ferrus: Buildings spread and stack before you, piling one upon the other, with many having visible openings only well up the sides. Those along the river appear to be industrial in form, while further away, there are more residential areas, climbing the walls and sides of the cavern. Amongst those residential buildings are a few of more official function, and those loom large over all those around them.

Thraxis: Floating up into the air gives Thraxis a wonderful view of the terrain around, and access to many of the buildings that would be cut off from those of more ground-bound persuasion. A glance up above, though, shows a central spire, spearing down from the central aspect of the cave, and upon that is built a magnificent palace, without a doubt the home of those who once ruled this place. From below, it is little more than shaven rock, but from the side it is adorned with all manner of fanciful designs and elegant carvings.

[spoiler]What's the max height you can get to?[/spoiler]

Via the psicrystal telepathic relay "I've found something we should definitely investigate. It looks like a palace. We'll need to Levitate up to it, though. I'm coming back down to the forge."
[spoiler]Well, Psionic Levitate is 10 min/lvl, so 40 minutes, or 400 rounds.

You can mentally direct the recipient to move up or down as much as 20 feet each round; doing so is a move action.

So does this limit me to 20 feet total, or could I go up 40 feet per round if I take two move actions? Even if it is limited to 20 feet per round, I could rise 8000 feet during the duration of one manifestation of the power, and I have plenty of power points. I am definitely not going up there alone, though. [/spoiler]

Ferrus was just about to attempt an aerial entry when he got the message, shrugging, he returns to the forge to meet up.
