Gestalt and the Metamind
« on: December 18, 2008, 06:33:30 AM »
I know that the Metamind is total fail in comparison to maxing a full manifesting class. But what about in a gestalt situation where you can push Psion/Wilder to 10, then push Psion to 20 and then have Wilder 10 Metamind 10?

Would it work?? You have lvl 20 manifesting, all of the Wild Surge you will want, Font of power, Multiple free manifestings, and Power point storage?

I am aware that there will be a bit of MAD but a lot of powers do not care about the manifesting stat since they have no DC to overcome.

Please discuss?

That's actually not too bad of an idea, though you'd actually be better off with levels in...well...most other classes.

Psion/factotum, for instance.

It's certainly not as much fail as a non-gestalt build.

one of the guidelines for gestalt is that the DM shouldn't allow prestige classes which are, themselves, gestalt-esque classes. Because allowing a Clr//Wiz5 to become a Clr5/Geomancer1//Wiz5/Mystic Theurge1 is umm... yeah.

And that has what to do with the conversation, exactly?

Why yes, the gestalt rules are incredibly overpowered compared to a normal game, why do you ask?

what it has to do with this conversation is that, unless I misremember, metamind is one of those gestalt style PrCs, and, by guidelines, cannot be used in gestalt. If gestalt style Prcs are allowed, players will take two synergistic Gestalt style PrCs on either side and gain twice-level appropriate casting(or manifesting) at least.

ok, I just checked metamind on the srd... I misremembered, sorry. I was thinking cerebremancer.

Metamind has the "cheapest" Recharge set-up.
Class level feature + one power: Temporal Reiteration = recharge
All other set-ups require a feat or two, or discounts, or a long list of psi-trange behaviors.
Fun.
