Canere relays what he's seen back to his companions higher on the stairs, and then places his hand on the doors handle and pushes it open.

Stepping into the room was arguably less amazing than the initial shock of the size of the tower. Ira gave the place a quick glance over, surveying the broken stone and chilled ground, putting her hand on the wall to her right.
Search (1d20+2=9) Looks like Ira gets nothing. :P
Following his friends, Caden takes in the layout of the room whilst waiting for either Ira to finish or Canere to keep going.

Bursting the door reveals little more than an old storage room, full of dusty chests and crates untouched for millennia. It is a sad statement on how long it has been since Hania was once a great nation.

Canere searches the room before descending farther into the great chamber below.

The chests are locked, while the crates are nailed shut, stored against a later day that never came. Otherwise, there is nothing but dust. The smallest of the crates or chests could be carried with one arm, but beyond that, they are bulky and heavy.

Canere looks at Ira and grins as he unsheathes his greatsword. Shall we find out what these chests contain?

"But of course, the shortest way."

Ira's eyes glint, before she begins to swing her katana in a deliberate, swift motion. Her muscles, once weary from their entry into the tower, have settled, trained from years of practice.

The warrior frowned. I definitely need to sharpen my blade afterwards...
Same as usual. 1d10+10, so I'll take the average damage of 15.5 since I don't want to roll on these. No idea on the hardness, but I doubt they're made of mythril.

Before you do that, note it could well damage the contents of the chests. And they're fragile.

Erm, smack it carefully?
Edit: sarcasm gives me ideas.
Moves to the crates. What he has in mind for the chests needs the most practiced blade available.
Try to hit the locks, my friend. For the crates, I'll deal with it. Canere first attempts to move his blade in between the lid of the crates, in order to get a purchase and pry the lids off. If he has trouble getting his blade in, he'll try Greasing it.
Is there a way to pry it open by using the blade as a wedge? Taking 20 on the Str check gives me 23. And of course, gently as possible.
As Canere attempts to pry the lid off of the chest, he hears the dry wood slowly splinter and crack, launching a spray of slivers across the room. Bleeding from one that caught him under the eye, he looks down into the opened chest. It is full of stacks and stacks of leather bound parchments, scrolls and other markings of record. The language, like those open in the room above, is Ancient Hanian.

"Canere, are you alright?"

Ira rushed over, holding out a waterskin. Offering it up to Canere, she took a brief glimpse into the chest. But, for now, her attention is at her comrade's light wound.

Thanks, Ira. Canere chuckles as he dabs a bit of water over the cut. Caden, you wanna help me carry the crates that we can up to the top room while Ira tries to open some of those chest. Canere scoops up the recently opened crate and starts out the door and up the stairs.

Turning his head when he heard the crack, Caden watches as Ira looks over Canere's wound.
"Sure, wadda you find?" he asks, as he approaches the crates. He looks down.
"Hrrm, more books. Neat." He then proceed to make himself useful.
Not sure if you want me to help you carry it, or take one myself so it'll go faster. Either way, that's what I'll do. :)
