The interior layers of a tree are typically dead and is usually used to store biological wastes generated by the tree. Only the outer rings transports water and food up and down the trunk (in the form of sap). When you ring a tree, you cut into that transport layer and it will die if you do it deep enough and thoroughly enough.

But note that this is only true for large trees with big lignin trunks. Some smaller or the more herbaceous plants do not have that solid core.

Sorry guys, I kinda forgot about this thread  :blush

Anyway, I'm fresh out of ideas for new riddles and I don't feel like using one from a riddle site, so please, if you have a decent original riddle, post it :)

Oooooh! I've got one: What kind of bee makes milk?

People usually think that I've lost my mind. I haven't lost it, I know exactly where it is: the gutter.

My body is a temple. That is why I make chocolate sacrifices in it every day.

Ju Ju Bees! :couch These use their juju magic to commune with spirits of cows... or boobies, take your pick.

On a related note, "boo" is the word ghosts stereotypically say, thus lending further credibility to the spirits perspective. :couch

LOL yup Nox got it. It was boobies.

I made aftercrescent roll with laughter when I tried to tell this joke, but screwed it up royally:
"what kind of boob makes milk?"
"A booby! ...wait."

I think I'd have laughed too, but only because I'm sometimes an asshole and I laugh at the failures of others.  :couch

Anyway, we need a riddle and I don't feel like recalling one since I'm actually trying to solve the "Einstein's Riddle," so here goes:

How did Mark legally marry three women in Michigan, without divorcing any of them, becoming legally separated, or any of them dying?

EDIT: Okay, the "Einstein Riddle" isn't nearly as hard as it's supposed to be. I spent about fifteen to twenty minutes and cracked it (some time spent watching Comedy Central - yes, the "biggest chubby" challenge is disgusting; yes, I'm honestly that lazy that I won't change the channel - and some time deciding whether or not I should split the riddle into two possibilities and test each one before actually doing that). I definitely want some feedback from other people though, so try it! And then tell me whether or not you actually found it difficult. I really think the difficulty is over-exaggerated.

Hah!  The Einstein Riddle was a fun one!  You're right though... not nearly as hard as they claim.

Also, Mark was the Pastor/Priest Minister that "married" the couples.

EDIT: Aha!  I found the word I was looking for!

A man abducts another man's wife.
The second man knows who abducted his wife and where his wife is, but he doesn't go to save her nor does he go after the abductor.
Later, with some clever manipulation, the second man has another wife.

Who is the second man?

Edited for clarity...

Nope.  I think this one might be significantly harder than my other ones. :P

Nope...

I'll let this sit for tonight, and if no one gets it, I'll put up a hint tomorrow.

Well, it depends on how much "later" we mean. For instance, he could wait such a length of time that she is pronounced legally dead, at which point he could get remarried and have a second wife.

Or he could live somewhere where polygamy is allowed (or move to such a place).

While that would be clever manipulation, that isn't what I'm thinking of.

Also, I use some of the words loosely.

After reading it again, the man in the third line appears to be the same one as in the first. I'd say he's a repeat kidnapper.

Ooh, sorry about that...  I should clarify in my post...

The man in the third line is not the abductor.

I suspect that the married man hired the kidnapper to abduct his wife, who had presumably left him.  Given the rest of the riddle, I'll make this guess:

The married man's wife left him, but refused to sign divorce papers.  He hired someone to bring her back and force her to sign the papers--thus giving him the opportunity to marry another wife.

Probably not the intended answer, but it does fit the offered evidence.
