Getting more favored enemies.
« on: October 09, 2008, 08:14:18 AM »
Ranger  have a load of neat option, both in spells and feats, regarding their favored enemies.  Is there any way to gain, even temporarily, extra favored enemies so you can use those spells and feats against them?

I believe there's an un-updated feat in Masters of the Wild that gives an extra Favored Enemy.  The key here being un-updated.

Most people that want to apply badass Favored Enemy bonuses to a wide variety of enemies typically take levels in Stalker of Kharesh or Harper Paragon for Favored Enemy (Evil).

Yeah, stalker was what I thought of also.

My goal was a Two-weapon power attacking Ranger (maybe swift hunter) using DragonSplints (Exotic Light weapon that can power attack, 1d6/x4), and stacking Leap Attack  (Lion's Charge FTW!) and Favored Power Attack for a very favorable return on PA.

I think Extra Favored Enemy was updated in Complete Warrior.

There's a regional feat for Faerun-based characters that grants a favored enemy from a small list.  Up to you and your DM how it interacts with the ranger class feature though.

Planar Champion nets a type of favored enemy that works on a planar scale. Too bad it's bonuses are halved. It used to be a good class too and it could still be if you don't like gishes. Just poke in CPsi's weapons and you'll see why.

I also have a list of ways to gain favoured enemies in my "lists of stuff" thread on 339.

DragonSplints (Exotic Light weapon that can power attack, 1d6/x4)

Where is this from?
The dragonsplits are in MM4, under the Green Dragonspawn Sneak entry. They're actually medium weapons, but count as light for the purposes of TWF. They also have variable damage types/crit.
