WotC has ignored things like, "things without Con scores and immune to nonlethal damage can't have functioning regeneration."  I don't trust them to follow their own rules.

Your mileage may very when referring to stuff written by the Sage, especially when that sage is Andy Collins, who has a track record of spouting off nonsense.

If it was just the sage, or just the being ignored ever since, or even just both of those things, it'd be different.

But there's also the matter of the changes to type/subtype between editions and other 'translation errors.'

All signs point to that the pyramid wasn't just not updated, it was dropped.

Which means that you can go in fun circles with templates.

And you can apply half-troll to anything to make it able to become a lycanthrope.

You're speculating.  That's unhealthy around most of the CO holdovers.  ;)

Just sayin'.  :lol

In the same way that I speculate that certain aspects of the Lasher class abilities are defunct, as whips no longer have the properties that those abilities modify.

I realize that it's not exactly 100%, but I think the evidence is stacked enough in it's favor. Besides, who would say no to Half-Troll Pit Fiend Werewolves.

Conclusive evidence tends to be the exception and not the rule for most debates.
In this case, if you say "the type pyramid is a part of D&D 3.5" you have the "whatever we didn't update is still valid" rule on one side and signs of the rule not being followed in addition to never being reprinted in any other creature book that I know of on the other. And between Fiend Folio, Libris Mortis and MMs I theorize that they reprinted everything from Savage Species that they wanted to keep in 3.5.

So as long as JJ is only using 3.5 templates, he should only need to follow the 3.5 restrictions on them. He just has to come up with the elaborate backstory for whatever mutant freak he is.
It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.

Hey guys... it looks like we're ready to start. Unfortunately I'm up visiting family in Jacksonville for the 4th of July, so I don't have all that much time online. I'll kick start this thing at the beginning o the week when  get home. :D
