Pikachu! I Choose You!

If you hate Pokemon, you're heartless.

Like I said in the intro post, I <3 Pokemon <3.

While I'd personally love to play a full Pokemon campaign, I know some people just like tossing in the electric rat in their game now and then.

I'll try to keep a list of resources organized.

I can't say I've ever had Pokemon inspire me for a game, but it did inspire a motivator that I have yet to make. If anyone knows where to find an online version of the Gingerbread Man picture book, please tell me. :)

Returning to the idea of Pokemon, Pikachu can likely be replicated to some degree of accuracy using Soulmelds. I'm fairly certain there was one that gave claws with lightning damage or something and another entirely that fired an actual targeted lightning attack. I could be wrong on both counts though. If I'm right, you could make an Awakened Rat with the Shape Soulmeld feat.

Or an electric-themed wizard beguiler (the race not class) o.O

I've only ever heard mention of the Beguiler race once and don't know what it comes from so it wouldn't be very helpful of me to suggest something I know next to nothing about.

Well then I shall aid you :D

Forgotten Realms supplement - Shining South
Beguiler - Small magical beast (LA+0 {Cohort})
-4Str, +6 Dex, +2 Int
Continuous True Seeing and a +8 racial Hide modifier among other things.

Ah, yeah, I lack Shining South (of those directionally-named books, I only have Unapproachable East). Thanks for the basic information.

I've been thinking of using some sort of master of shrouds/thaumaturgist blend to make an ersatz pokemon master, myself.

Just use a shocker lizard for Pikachu. Duh. :P

You might want to look into the BESM d20 Pet Monster Trainer class.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Lightning Gauntlets and massive amounts of Bloodline abuse. But the Lightning Gauntlets do not give the Claws or Tail. Wormtail Belt bound to Totem, Rage Claws bound to second Totem, Shape Soulmeld for Lightning Gauntlets, Dwarf followed by PaO to get qualifications and the body. Then it is:

Totemist 4/Barbarian 1/Warblade 1/Totem Rager 5/Ironsoul Forgemaster 4/Legacy Champion 2/Major Bloodline 3

Meldshaper Level: 26
Essentia Capacity as a 35th level character.
Nice number of Chakra binds (crappy slot selection though).
Elder Mountain Hammer for Iron Tail.
Lightning Gauntlets for Thundershock.
Rage Claws for near-immortality.
etc.

The only serious problem is the low Essentia. Most of it will be in whatever you are using that round. The rest should be in the melds you want to have bound.

to stick to the basic nature of pokemon, the build should be the trainer w/ his companions.

seems like a summoner maybe...

or marshal w/ odd animal cohorts.

A rat familar with the electirc subtype and imbue familiar with spell like abiltiy, it might almost be worth burning a feat on improved familiar. The other Pokemon could just be summons but Pikachu is worthy of familar status.
