Banshee is crap. You want one that look badass, take a look at the Hauptmann. That thing is chopping on a cigar while blowing your rear away :D

Mad Dog is Clan. If you want Clan-tech, then I would have to go with the Warhawk-C.

Gun for a face. I didn't say it had to perform well, none of the outdated models are top choices for that.

But really.

Gun for a face. Beat that on looks.

Mad Dog is Clan.

That'd be why it's a better choice.

 ;)

MadDog'll always be my baby though.  :love

I guess the one that came on the cardboard cut outs that came in the box with the rules (cause when I was 12 I hardly had the cash for that, much less actual minis) was just very poorly drawn.

It always looked like a gun-face to me.

Blech. Never been a fan of the banshee. And yes, the atlas is WAY overrated. I can't stand assaults that can't hold their own at range, since you can never count on keeping the stuff you want dead close to them. I'll always have a soft spot for the Stone Rhino / Behemoth and the Kraken III / Bane III - especially the latter's eight(!) LRM-15 racks.  :smirk

Yeah. For IS 'Mechs, the updated King Crab is about as mean as they go:

2x Gauss Rifles, 1x LRM-15, 1x Large Laser.

Of course, the new Devastator beats the nuts out of it with: 2x Gauss, 2x PPC and 4 Medium Laser.

Did someone say necromancy?
<Casts Create Greater Undead, and Rebukes with a bonus of Cheese>
Well, enough silliness.

A silly question: who would win in a fight, Battletech Mechs or a party of D&D characters, as long as both groups were at about the same optimization level?
Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".
My final project for my film independent study course. It could do with a watching and critiquing

True dat

Casts protection from Flame
({[<What would happen if the Zerg, the Borg, the Tyrannids, and the Slithers all met on the field of battle? My theory is that it would be a prolonged orgy of violence, ending with the apocalypse>]})

NOOOO! Shit, I just got disenchanted.

Thanks for your answers. Now, all we need is a handbook on how to DM those fights, and this could be the beginning of an epic campaign.

<DM> You see a bunch of metal monsters in front of you. What do you do?
<D&D player> I cast Glitterdust!
<Battletech Player> I have computer sensors
<D&D player> Well, fuck.

fixed that for you.  :D

but, then again, the two aren't exactly mutually exclusive. quite the opposite, in fact.

lets just declare "max optimization", so I can bring my caster level abuse.  epic monsters are epic, and gateing is fun.

technically speaking, that was horus + 4 chaos gods vs the emperor, and horus still lost that one.
