Rachel Getting Married is flipping brilliant.  Just...watch it.  And no, it's not a romantic comedy.  It's about a girl with an addiction to an undisclosed drug (or many, percoset was mentioned once, but the drug type isn't important) and her interaction with her family during her sister's wedding which is happening right after she gets out of rehab.  I can't believe I didn't hear more about this film.  Oh, it's by Jonathan Demme, who did Silence of the Lambs.  So expect that level of psychological focus.

So, I recently watched a few movies with some friends. Here's what:

Tokyo Zombie
Obviously Japanese, so subtitles required. The back of the box said it was the Japanese version of Shaun of the Dead.

It's much worse than that. In a good way. Cheesy acting, cheap jokes, and really no sensible plot to speak of. Between the Narmtastic plot and lines, and the genuinely absurd jokes, it was worth the $4 from Movie Gallery.
3 Extremes
A Chinese movie. Advertised itself as a horror film, but watching something like Tokyo Zombie and desensitization thanks to the net ruined it.

Technically three short films rolled into one. All of them really weren't that good. Not worth it.
Repo: The Genetic Opera
Good god! What a movie this was! It's a stage play that was adapted into Musical film, but the entire thing was epic in 5 ways. The voices were decent, but the plot was the kicker. Worth seeing a few times.
Spoilers enclosed:
Dunno exactly which, but the one we did rent we only got through 2 stories on. The first was about cannibalism (and abortions), the second was about a movie director.
Okay that was number one (the better of the two).  Actually it was number two where it was originally filmed, but for some reason the sequel got the initial release here, and the first film was made the sequel.

It's not entirely chinese, each of the films comes form a different country.  I liked Dumplings though...

Was is scary?  I've heard it is.

I saw Body of Lies this weekend.  It was a pretty good movie, except the end seemed a bit too Deus Ex Mechanay to me.

Did anyone get a chance to see Boondock Saints 2? I was really looking forward to seeing it but it isn't playing anywhere around here. I might need to find out if it is in New Orleans (closest city that would probably have it) and have a road trip.

Depends on your definition of scary. There aren't too many "jump scares," but the tension and the subtle things are extremely creepy at worse

just saw Observe and Report.  Was nice to see Rogen in a different role, beating the unholy living dogshit out of people.

It's also reminded me that despite not normally being the type of woman I find attractive, given the opportunity, I would ride Anna Faris like a monkey on cocaine.

That was really good. Not all that funny, but I think it was billed as a "comedY' because there was literally nowhere else it would fit.

Its being savaged in reviews on rotten tomatoes, but I dont think they rated the 1st one all that well either

I'm not quite sure why I've been hearing all this hate for Burn After Reading.  Watched it tonight, totally exceeded my expectations (from all the downplaying that people have been giving it).  Not the greatest or the funniest, but still good and very funny.

looks like i forgot to mention Worlds Greatest Dad. wows i didnt know how that story was gonna go...

i like it.
i dont know if its the real thing or a stunt double, but you get a shot of robin williams's junk.
Skull Heads.. o what a piece of crap.

The Invention of lying. slow... cute..

Astroboy. two thumbs up from the guy who hates anime...
the adjusted to storyline a little bit.
Moon w/ zaphod beeblebrox, er i mean sam rockwell. i liked it.
it looks like they were aiming for 2001 a space Odyssey but missed the mark... robin hood couldnt hit that target... anyway... its a depressing feel good sci future flick with lackluster twists.. and the moon has tooo much gravity..
El Superbeasto - loved it. i pretty much agree with bhu's description...

Couples Retreat - meh... its aight... not the best VV movie ever...

GI Joe resolute - i didnt see the live action movie this summer, but this cartoon has to better than it. i think its better than the original series.. some minor reality issues, but its an action cartoon, they get a pass for that stuff..

Which is why I sustain that Chuck Norris is actually one of Gendou Ikari's failed disciples.
Gendou Ikari is basically Gregory House in Kaminashades. This is FACT.

This is good.  I had expected it to be hilarious in the first place, so it beating that would be wonderful.
