We watched "Taken" last night.  That movie is fucking awesome.

They really shouldn't have nabbed his daughter.

He was badass. One of the few films this week to get a thumbs up from kitteh.

I just finally saw Taken as well.

Holy shit, that was an awesome movie :D
I watched it last night.  That movie is great.  I'm considering buying it for the numerous action scenes alone.

On TMC the other night, I caught the last 45 min or so of The Seventh Seal.

Great freaking movie.

I highly recommend looking for it on Netflix or something.  Brilliant imagery, acting, and story.  Brutal, too.

Just saw Drag Me to Hell.  I enjoyed it. Though as bhu said, it was lacking something from Raimi.  The slapstick side of it was kind of disappointing, which made me sad.  But maybe that's just because Bruce Campbell wasn't there.

Overall, it was refreshing to see a horror film that wasn't horror through sadism and 'how many people we can kill in two hours' sort of thing.  It didn't take itself too seriously, but it was still frightening at points.

I never really found it frightening.  They just used the old 70's trick of being silent fro a few moments before doing a quick shot to whats supposed to be a scary face screaming while simultaneously jacking the sound up to maximum.  Used sparingly and at the right moments it can be done to good effect but this movie seemed to do it something like every 15 minutes for a while.

Watched Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus for the monthly bad movie review.

Note I expected it to be bad going in, but it had the chance of being a "So bad its good movie"

It mostly ended up with my friends and I staring at the screen open mouthed wondering how they got funding.

Saw Gran Torino too.  Good but horribly depressing film.

Has anyone watched Terminator: Salvation?

I wanted to watch it, but everything I've been hearing is lukewarm at best.  I'll probably watch it on DVD, but I don't want to waste my money at the theater if it's really not that good.

My personal favorite is they call a Battleship a Destroyer, and when the Shark charges it they fire the main guns straight forward in to the air.  They almost made me shut it off at that point.

Chatting with all the reviewers I know they all basically said the same thing: catch it on DVD.

I do get tons of people telling me to go see Up tho..

It's probably best anyway.

What I want to see after it comes out on DVD is a bunch of YouTube videos of various scenes where they overlay Christian Bale's meltdown on top of what he's supposed to be saying.  I've discovered most YouTube movies are made more funny by Christian Bale swearing. :p

I saw the Hangover opening night, and I got to say, I don't think I've ever been in a theater were the audiance laughed so much, and I along with them.  The movie is by far one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time, and quite possibly ever.  After seeing it though and rembering back it does seem to be missing something that I think will keep it from being a classic like animal house, probably either the plot or the events I couldn't relate to.

Finally watched the new Friday the !3th semi-remake/sequel.
My wife and I are big fans of Supernatural, so we thought seeing Jared Padalecki in a horror movie sounded like a good idea until we realized he wouldn't be Sam Winchester in the movie.   :p
Aside from some well-done gore, most of the movie just didn't feel like a Friday the 13th movie.  Jason didn't stalk people, he set traps for them and then dragged them into the dungeon underneath Camp Crystal Lake.  WTF?!  Really?  A dungeon?  Fuck you, Michael Bay.

Also watched Hancock and was pleasantly surprised that it was NOTHING like the previews made it appear.  I was expecting some lame superhero spoof at the same intellectual level as Austin Powers.  Instead, there was actually an interesting story behind everything and most of the movie was dramatic rather than insipidly comedic.

+1 I enjoyed that it was better than what the previews had you believe.

I saw Transformers 2 last night. It's a good movie, but if you're looking for a connection to the old cartoons/movies, you'll be sorely disappointed. Just expect a comedy/action film, as they doubled the amount of comedy and action from the first movie while cutting the plot into some fraction I don't want to calculate.

Still a good movie, just not as good as the first one.
I like what they did with some of the Transformers in keeping with the original - Optimus, Starscream, I'm looking at you. But I really dislike how badass they made a couple of them - Soundwave, you're not that badass. I feel that they were trying too hard and some of the 'bots just weren't needed.
