Yeah, I was saying that the standard for "horror" today is torture porn, not that torture porn is horror.  Hence my statement of it being possible to make a good one.  I've seen good ones, but they don't really do it for me, they just aren't my thing.

I saw wolverine on its midnight showing.  It was pretty good, but not great, some of the begining action sequences were just cheasy, and the movie definitaly should of been half an hour longer, to extrapolate more on his time with Deadpool--and those others guys too I guess.  All in all though most the action sequenceses were nice, they definitaly tied it in well too with the rest of the movies so over all I was content with it.

I really liked the Wolverine movie. He really took a lot of beatings.

I loved the Man With No Name spaghetti westerns, and more or less all of his other movies, but Gran Torino may just be Clint Eastwood's best movie yet.  His portrayal of a suburban Korean war vet/retiree was so genuinely done that I don't think it could have worked at all with any other actor alive today.  That, and even in his mid 70s, I wouldn't want to get on his bad side!  He's still tougher than any 3 other guys I've ever seen.

He was badass. One of the few films this week to get a thumbs up from kitteh.

I also watched Repo: A Genetic Opera.  It was okay.  It's basically a style as substance movie.  If you like the style it'll be awesome, if not...

After that was Mystics of Bali.  An Indonesian horror film from the eighties filmed in a western style, but using eastern myths.  We have:

Maniacally laughing witches who can turn into balls of fire, or freaky pig women.

A woman whose head and entrails can separate from her body, fly about, and suck unborn babies from their mothers womb.

Talking bushes with 30' tongues that can leave temporary tattoos.

Spurious dubbing.

I'm honestly not sure how to rate it.  There's not much else out there really like it.

I've heard good things about that movie, now I'll have to add it to the Netflix queue.

It's not out yet, and I'll probably have to wait an extra 5 or 6 months before it gets here, but Sam Raimi's new movie, Drag Me To Hell, looks freakin' awesome!

yeah, it was a fun popcorn flick/blockbuster. And I was actually ok with how Deadpool was handled, it all made sense in the context of the film.

Outlander came out on DVD last week.  Its a man from space who crashlands on earth during the time of the vikings (aka its an odd retelling of Beowulf).  Its a nice popcorn movie, and it has Ron Pearlman as a Viking Chief.  That alone was reason enough to rent it.

I watched Baise Moi, Romance, and Irreversible this weekend.

Why has no one warned me about the French?

I mean Amelie and City of Lost Children were so fun...
