Okay, this is not a movie, but a miniseries. In spite of that, I am going to recommend it.

A nice British TV series called Dead set. It tells about a Big Brother house, but suddenly everyone outside the house turns into zombies! Only five episodes, but it's an amazing run.

Sounds like fun :D

Watched Changeling last night.
Artistically speaking, it was a great film. I was absorbed in the story the whole time, and it felt like a perfect fit for the time (20s and 30s).
I believe it garnered the desired emotional response.
That is to say, I now have the strong desire to go cause grievous bodily injury to corrupt police officials and those who would harm children.
Seriously. I really wanted to hurt a bad guy by the end of that movie. I hate it when people mistreat women like that, I hate it when people who should protect others with power abuse that power, and I absolutely hate it when somebody hurts kids. This movie had all of that.
I suppose it was a good movie. But it's not a "fun" movie.

Out of some morbid curiosity, and because I watched the franchise beginner again the other day, I watched Son of the Mask on TV earlier today.

It wasn't horrible. It was a lot better than I expected (which honestly says more about my expectations than the movie), but no where near as good as The Mask. The shining light in the whole thing was Loki*, honestly, even if they failed epicly and made Loki Odin's son... but the kid... wasn't as bad as I expected. Jamie Kennedy's character was an idiot... ("He's doing the Michigan J Frog dance right after you sat him in front of the TV and you expect him to sing and dance for an audience? you're an idiot and an insult to cartoonists everywhere...")

It was enjoyable enough to keep me from changing the channel, but that's about it. Loki was a saving grace for me, even if they made him Odin's son (he isn't), but then I like Loki. Even if they made Loki far more silly than I really see him being (and I don't think the god of mischief who let a goat tug on a rope tied to his nutsack would be bothered much by a dog chomping on it), I like Loki, they did some good things with him (when he's in action mode, he's got the directness of the Original Mask's antagonist, with Mask Wearing Stanley's style).

One "major" plot point was Otis, the cartoonist's dog, felt ignored when baby came along, and put on the mask to get the baby out of the spotlight in some Tom and Jerry style antics, this is a good enough idea to be made into a series of cartoon shorts, as they did in the movie at the end, but it's not enough for an actual movie, though I suspect that's why they threw in Loki looking for his mask while being berated by Odin, and the mother having to leave town for business so dad has to watch the kid. That wasn't enough to save the story though. Loki looking for his mask and confronting Stanley would've been awesome, I think, even if they kept this story line but used the original characters, it would've been a much better movie, though I have a feeling they approached Carey and he declined.

Ok, just checked a thread on IMDB, a sequel to the Mask was planned right after the success of the first, and Carey was offered $10-20 million, but apparently after "When Nature Calls" he hates sequels and refuses to do any he's not contractually obligated to do.

Damn. Some jerk off thought the mask could stand on it's own merits... and it really can't, it's needs a "strong" character and actor underneath it, and to be placed in a suitable storyline.

Apparently I was almost right earlier, only Michael Richardson- Producer (SotM)/ Exec. Prod. (TM) carried over from the original, no one else major worked on both movies (I'm defining major as producers, writers, directors, the main people who determine the feel, style, content, etc. of a movie).

*played by Alan Cumming as I just found out, who also played Glitch in Tinman ("That's where I knew his voice from!")

Yeah, Changeling was really good. And hard.

I was surprised by how well Angelina Jolie played( I admit I was heavily prejudiced against her...).

I saw The new Street Fighter movie last night.  I learned it is never a good sign if you go to a movie you didn't even know was out yet, and the week after

opening you are the only person in the theater.  That being said it wasn't as bad as those signs would lead one to believe. The first 20 min or so were well

done with a good fight scene (would of been excelent if it wasn't for one or two parts).  After that it kinda went down hill and didn't make much sense.  M.

Bison was just making crime sprout up to lower property values, and never explained why he was buying it or what he planned, to be honest he was never

shown doing much that would be considered highly illegal(besides some kidnapping).  They even have a flash back were he gets rid of his concounse by giving

it to his unborn daughter, I mean what the hell did he do that he needed to do that he was willing to kill his wife before he lost it for gods sakes.  Some of the

fight scenes were ok after the first but the special affect in them just seemed corny.

Also Street Fighter fans will be disapointed, Charlie is in it but never uses any martial arts, Gen is not some old man, but the guy who played liu kang in the

mortal kombat movies, Vega is played by Taboo(who the hell ever thought that could be a good Idea must of been high out of their god damned mind), M.

Bison is shown to have some kinda power but never really uses psycho power and he is in a buisness suit.  Balrog uses a gun (this isn't to big of deal), and Ryu

and Ken aren't in it, Ryu barely gets a mention at the end of the film, which I assume leads up to Street Fighter 1.

Well I went to see what I assumed to be another shitty martial arts movie, DragonBall Evolution, maybe it was because I had no expectaions for the movie, but I found it rather enjoyable, the fight scenes were well done, possibly a little to much slow mo for some, but not 300 level, the plot wasn't too bad, and the special effects were pretty good, and I learned Goku can be one F**** up son of a bitch.
He was attacked by some monsters with swords that regenerated when cut up.  The only way to kill them was to through them into lava, but their bodies stayed their, so he hacked one up repeatadly and made a bridge out of their corpses across lava, so he could get a dragon ball.
That being said I did have some complaitns, Goku seemed to scrawny to be well Goku, Ozaru looked like a were-wolf, I did not like Yamcha, the voice didn't seem to match his body, he was wimpier than Bulma and he just did not strike me as a handsome desert bandit, and in the last fight scene I'd have to watch it again to make sure, but there was a pretty damn random explosion behind Goku.

I just saw it as well, one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

To each his own I guess :)

Well I did go in with the attitude that it would be the worst movie I ever saw, so that probably helped a shit load.

In no particular order (because I had to review them) I have watched Purani Haveli, Veerana, Crazy Lips, Gore from Outer Space, Splatter: Naked Blood, Over-Sexed Rugsuckers from Mars, and Let the Right One In.

I should be obvious which was the good one.  I'll review the others when my cerebellum normalizes...

I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for you or jealous. :P

Me either.  On the one hand there were lots of hot naked japanese wimmens...

On the other one of them committed self cannibalism, and another was buttraped while being forced to have sex with a corpse...

Crazy Lips is an odd film...

Saw Watchmen, was that good.

It did get over-hyped, but it was a really great film.  Though I guess I was going into it kinda skeptical because of the director, who has made by far THE most over-hyped movie that turned out to be a suck fest.
