Yep, quite distinctive, really, so I never figured out the whole tinfoil hat thing about the authorship.

The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

For my money, I'd probably say Thief of Time and Soul Music were the two best Pratchett books for me. It's certain that Death is the best character, though (imo, of course).

Granny Weatherwax and Vimes are vying for that spot along with Death for me. Vimes rose to his position during the That Is Not My Cow incident.

Granny Weatherwax, Vimes, Vetinari, Death, Lu Tze, Nanny Ogg, Carrot...

I'm actually not that fond of Rincewind anymore.

Agreed on Thief of Time, it's my favorite of the Discworld books.  It sucks that Pratchett's got alzheimer's now, probably one of the worst things a writer could end up with.

Death From Above:  The German FG42 Paratroop Rifle by Thomas B. Dugelby and R. Blake Stevens.

I've wanted this book for years, but the $500+ price tag of the original 1990 printing on the secondary market kept it out of my reach.  Fortunately, a few years ago Collector Grade reprinted it with about 50% more content (new research, documentation, photos, etc), and I got it for Christmas a while back.

It's awesome.  So much technical, historical, and anecdotal information!  It's the most in-depth study of the FG-42 project I've ever seen.  Makes me really wish I could afford one of the rifles, but they're about $200,000 these days, so that's out unless I hit the lottery.

If you like historical weapons, this (like all Collector Grade books I've read so far) is a must-have.

Due to all the media hysteria revolving around H1N1, I've decided that now is the perfect time to re-read Stephen King's The Stand.   :p

A lot of people said that the original, edited version was a lot better than the later, uncut version.  I've only read the latter, and while I found it slow at times, it was supposed to be an epic, so I wasn't all that annoyed.

I'm in the same boat, I never read the first released edition, I only bought this behemoth hardcover last year or thereabouts.  Probably my favourite part is the second section (the accidental deaths after the outbreak).  :p

Never actually read the book, although I own it. Just seen the movie a few times. Managed to complete the entire Dark Tower series two years ago, though.
