I'm one of the only people I know who enjoys Hemingway.  Yes, you have to almost literally chew through it, but I do enjoy his stories.  The Old Man and the Sea was a great read.

I didn't care for the Sword of Truth series.  I got really bored reading it, and it seemed like a rip-off of a lot of Jordan's concepts and ideas.

Hemingway, bah.

And while I see some similarities between the Sword of Truth series and Jordan's books, the Sword of Truth series is actually readable straight through.

Personal taste might apply though, I've read all of 3 Sword of Truth books(the first one, Soul of the Fire and one other I can't seem to recall), but have reread Wheel of Time something like 10 times by now.

I can't read through the Wheel of Time books.  I stop caring about everyone but Rand, and then Jordan started writing books that barely had Rand in them.  That and whole huge sections are dedicated to boring meaningless things, like camping and travelling and whatnot.  So yeah, personal tastes apply.  :P

Well, me, I love the Mat parts, and anything with channeling in it(more epic, the better), but can't stand Perrin and his Tsundere wife.

As for me, the Perrin sections were my all time favorites. MAde the book with only one Perrin chapter more difficult to read. But I think that book had extra helpings of the awesome that is Thom.

Moving this back on topic, I've moved on from Howl's Moving Castle and am now reading Castle in the Air.

By Stephan Hunt? Just finished that myself, if its the same author its a brilliant book. World's really flavourful, would make a great setting for a RPG system.

Edit, cuz i'm bad at formating: No, it's a companion to Howl's Moving Castle, written by the same author, Diana Wynne Jones.

I forgot to put up that I was onto book 8 of the Wheel of Time series...I wrapped up Path of Daggers last night and got started on Winter's Heart. If I remember right this is where I stopped reading the series previously, so everything from here on out is new (to me).

The Singing Sword by Jack Whyte
Arthurian legend retold as historical fiction, stripped of mysticism and unexplained magic.  The whole series is The Camulod Chronicles.

Strangely, that reminds me of the last Robert Asprin book I read, 'For King and Country', about an SAS operative who goes back in time to the Arthurian period to stop an IRA terrorist from destroying England in its infancy.  It was nothing like the Myth books, but still rather decent.

As for now, I'm reading "The Bren Gun Saga, revised and expanded edition", by Thomas B. Dugelby.  Like pretty much everything put out by Collector Grade Publications, it's a definitive look at the evolution of the weapon in question.  Of course, if you're not an absolute hoplophile like myself, it may be too technical and/or boring for your taste.  But at least someone out there writes gun-related reference books that go beyond 'It shootz bulletz at teh badguyz!!!".  It's really too bad that Dugelby's dead.

Reread Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny again. Still blown away by how far ahead of most sci-fi/fantasy authors he was during his time. Reminds me that all of the old guard is fading or gone at this point.

David Weber has a new Honor Harrington book out now in hard back so I will borrow it from my dad when he is done.
