Theres a new article out on alchemy, which is kind of like ritual casting that results in consumable items.

One thing that immediately pops out is the alchemist fire. For 20g, a fighter can mark an area burst 1 within 10.

Interesting article, although the idea of a 65.000+Gp one-use item doesn't sound too attractive. I suppose that at Epic levels, you have no business using Alchemist's Fire anyway...

OTOH, a 26th level magic item costs 1,125,000 gp. 65K looks like chump change.

Depends on what you compare it with. It might be a lot cheaper than a magic item, but for only 85k you can get a complete Airship. I'll take a plane over two bottles of glorified oil any day of the week.

Why not have both. Afterall, DMG treasure tables gives a 26th level party of five 2,250,000 gp loot in monetary value, excluding magic items. Can't take an airship into a dungeon.

I wonder what's with the arbitrary bonuses to hit. Why not use the character's throw weapon modifier instead?
