From Crazy Ironstars Used Car lot: A-10 warthog.
« on: August 09, 2008, 12:28:44 AM »
I have finally managed to get back on to gleemax after a couple weeks of trying. Here is one of my vehicle submissions. I doubt that the entire car lot with its thousand or so vehicles can be brought over.

http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=8382913&postcount=418

A-10 Thunderbolt II "warthog"
The A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" is a powerful single seat Close Air Support Airplane manufactured by Fairchild. It is power by 2 General Electric TF34-GE-100 no afterburn turbofans. It has redundant support structure and titanium armor. It is renowned for surviving incredible battle damage, even making it back after loosing half a wing. The Warthogs primary armament is a GAU-8A 7-barreled 30mm rotary cannon. To limit ammunition consumption and reduce wear on the vehicle the gun can fire half or full speed, depending on if one or two of the gun's engines are engaged. This is achieved with a half-pull or full-pull of the trigger.

Crew: 1
Passengers: 0
Cargo: 16,000 lbs. (external)
Init: -4
Maneuver: -2
Top Speed: 770 (77 chase) (8 air)
Defense: 6
Hardness: 12
Hit Points: 52
Size: G
Purchase DC: 49
Restriction: Mil (+3)

Additional Statistics:
Fuel: 5 hours
Max Ceiling: 45000ft
Stall Speed: 165 (17 chase) (2 air)
This airplane receives a +2 to maneuverability due to superior performance. (Already factored into mod)

Dimensions:
Height: 15 ft (3 squares)
Width: 58 ft (12 squares)
Length: 54 ft (11 squares)
At chase scale a warthog takes up 4 squares.

Armament:
GAU-8A 7 barreled 30mm cannon
Damage: 4d12 ballistic armor piercing (ignores 10 hardness)
Critical: 20
Type: Ballistic
Range: 500ft
ROF: Auto
Magazine: Linked 1100 rounds
Size: Huge
Special: As a rotary cannon with a high RoF, an autofire attack covers a 20x20ft area and increases the save DC to 20.

I am using a combination of Fire-Linked and Fire-Battery (d20 future) to simulate the abilities of this weapon. It is a battery of 3 "weapons" for +2 to hit, each weapon is a pair of fire-linked 30-mm automatic cannons, and the 7th barrel does not impact this configuration.

On a half trigger pull, the number of rounds fired is 50 for an auto-fire attack or 25 for a burst. On a full trigger pull the number of rounds fired is 100 for an auto-fire attack or 50 for a burst, in this mode the weapon deals +50% damage.

11 weapons mounts:
3 pylons outside the wheel wells and 1 inside on each wing, 3 under the planes belly. It can mount any of the following systems: AIM-9 Sidewinder missile, Maverick anti-tank missile, Mk 82 GP Bomb, Mk 84 GP Bomb, Mk 20 Rockeye II, CBU-52 anti-personnel munition, CBU-58 Cluster Bomb, Fuel Air Explosive, napalm, rocket pod, SUU-23 pods, chaff or other jammer pods.

Maverick ATM and Sidewinder AAM have already been defined elsewhere.

Mk 82 GP Bomb (500 lbs.)
The Mk 82 General Bomb is a simple 500-pound bomb. Its warhead consists of 192 pounds of tritonal in an aerodynamic steel case. The Mk 82 is used as the warhead for the GBU-12 and GBU-22 guided bombs.

Damage: 10d6*5 concussion
Blast Radius Increment: 10ft.
Note: for every BLI from the impact site reduce the damage multiplier by 1. IE at 11 to 20 ft it does 10d6*4, and from 41 to 50 would deal only 10d6.

Mk 84 GP Bomb (2000 lbs.)
The Mk 84 General Bomb is a simple 2000-pound bomb. Its warhead consists of 945 pounds of tritonal in an aerodynamic steel case. The Mk 84 is used as the warhead for the GBU-10, GBU-24 and GBU-15 guided bombs.

Damage: 20d6*10 concussion
Blast Radius Increment: 10ft.

Mk 20 Rockeye II (CBU-100 cluster bomb) (505 lbs.)
The Mk 20 is an anti-tank cluster bomb. Its warhead consists of 247 mk118 mod 0 bomblets. Each Mk 118 weighs 1.3 lbs. and contains a .4 lb. shaped charge warhead.

Damage: 5d6 piering (ignores 10 hardness)
Radius: 100ft. (3300 yard area)

CBU-52 (766 lbs.)
The CBU-52 is an anti-personnel cluster bomb. Its warhead consists of 220 BLU-61A/B submunitions. Each submunition is a 3.5-inch spherical bomblet weighing 2.7 lbs. with a charge of 0.65 lbs. of high explosive.

Damage: 7d6 piercing
Radius: 100ft

CBU-58 (800 lbs.)
The CBU-58 is an incendiary cluster bomb. Its warhead consists of 650 BLU-63/B submunitions. Each Submunition is the size of a baseball.

Damage: 5d6 fire + flammables catch fire.
Radius: 150ft

Napalm (varies)
The Mk-750, Mk-500 and Mk-1000 are simple napalm bombs. They weight 750, 500 and 1000 lbs. respectively.

Damage: 10d6 fire + 2d6 fire per found for 10 rounds + flammables catch fire.
Radius: 75ft, 50ft and 100ft respectively.

SUU-23 (1720 lbs.)
The SUU-23 is an external gun pod containing an electrically fired, hydraulically operated 6 barrel M-61 20mm Vulcan rotary cannon and 1200 rounds of ammunition.

M-61 6 barreled 20mm Vulcan rotary cannon
Damage: 4d12
RI: 500 ft
RoF: auto

Special: As a rotary cannon with a high RoF, an auto-fire attack covers a 20x20ft area and increases the save DC to 20.

I am using a combination of Fire-Linked and Fire-Battery (d20 future) to simulate the abilities of this weapon. It is a battery of 3 "weapons", each weapon is a pair of fire-linked 20-mm automatic cannons. On a half trigger pull, the number of rounds fired is 75 for an auto-fire attack or 38 for a burst. On a full trigger pull the number of rounds fired is 150 for an auto-fire attack or 75 for a burst, in this mode the weapon deals +50% damage.

This weapon is considered to be part of a battery with other similar cannons on the aircraft (including the GAU-8/A), adding +50% of base damage for each doubling of the guns (the GAU-8/A counts as a 2 gun battery by itself), as does each SUU-23 pod.

Example: with the GAU-8/A and 1 SUU-23 gun pod firing at full trigger pull your damage would be doubled and use 400 rounds of ammo for an auto-fire attack or 200 rounds for a burst.

Note: this gun should probably do 4d8 damage per round like other 20mm guns, I upped it to 4d12 due to its high ROF. Its RoF of 6000 RPM ~50% higher than the GAU-8.

70mm Hydra Rocket Pods
The Hydra Rocket pod comes in two varieties, the M260 with 7 rounds and the M261 with 19 rounds. The M260 weighs 225 lbs. and the M261 weighs 660 lbs. The 2.75 inch rockets are propelled by the Mk66 MOD 4 rocket motor capable of delivering 1472 lb/sec of impulse of a duration of aproximately 1 second.

Range Increment: 200 ft.
RoF: semi
Damage: varies

M151 HE Anti-Personnel
The M151 is an anti-personel rocket with a 10 pound warhead containing 2.3 lbs. of B-4 high explosive wrapped in a cast-iron fragmentation shell.

Damage: 4d6*2 piercing
Blast Radius Increment: 15 ft

M156 White Phosphorous (Smoke)
The M156 is ballistically identical to the M151 and contains a "warhead" of 2.2 lbs of white-phosphorous capable of delivering pyrotechnics and signal smoke on target.

Damage: 5d6 fire + flammables catch fire
Radius: 20ft
Additional Effect: smoke rising from the target grants a +2 circumstance bonus to hit with airborn and artillery attacks against the same target.

M229 HE Anti-Personnel
The M229 is a larger and more powerful version of the M151 with a 17 lb warhead containing 4.8 lbs of B-4 high explosive.

Damage: 4d6*3 piercing
Blast Radius Increment: 15 ft

M247 HE anti-armor
The M247 utilizes an 8.8 lb shaped charge warhead containing 2 lbs of composition B. The M247 is no longer in production.

Damage: 10d6 piercing (ignore 10 hardness)
Radius: 20ft
* note that a direct hit must be achieved to ignore hardness.

M255A1(and M255E1) Flechette
The M255A1 utilizes aproximately 1180 KE flechettes that are disbursed before impact to saturate the target area. The submunitions derive thier energy from the velocity of the rocket and are intended for use against both air and ground targets.

Damage: ???
Radius: ???

M257 Illumination Warhead
M261 High-Explosive Multipurpose Submunition [MPSM]
The M261 utilizes 9 shaped charge submunitions with fragmentation shells for use against both personel and light armor. on a direct hit, the shaped charge can penetrate up to 4 inches of armor.

Damage: 5d6 piercing (ignores 10 hardness)
Radius: 30ft.

M264 RP Smoke
THe M265 utilizes an airbursting warhead containing 5 lbs of red phosphorous. This produces a voluminous cloud of white smoke.

ITs jsut a matter of finding someone with the most current PDF version of it,or the msot recent DL thread and then C&P just the stats,if i could find the cd that has the PDF on it,i would do it msyelf from the PDF,since that would be easier to do than from the thread itself....

I'm having a hard time figuring the progression from
xm214 5mm gatling
m134 7mm gatling
GAU19 12mm gatling (50bmg)
m61 20m gatling
GAU8 30mm gatling (ThunderboltII/Tankbuster <I'm old>)

seems we jump from 4d10 7mm to 4d12 20mm,
kinda leaving the 50BMG version out of the picture
When not specified, the gun is always a m1911
