Instead of creating countless homebrew fixes for lower tier classes, why not just combine those classes that are redundant and similar concept-wise? Let us use what the designers created and provided, instead of working at creating things from scratch.
Example: there's the Fighter, Swashbuckler, Samurai and Knight. Each is a mediocre class, tier 5 and even tier 6 in the case of the Samurai. They all are the same thing - a beatstick, just needlessly multiplied into 4 different base classes, which in my opinion should really be one class, or at least some of the class features should be ACFs for the Fighter.
Why not combine them into a single, capable class like I did with my
simple Fighter fix?
I'm not saying that my idea is perfect, but I think that it's premise is correct - too many base classes that are basically the same exact thing.
Some other examples:
- Ranger//Scout
- Monk//Ninja (both are oriental martial artists with supernatural abilities)
- Warlock//Shadowcaster
Maybe also add Fighters bonus feat progression to Barbarian to make him more customizable combat-wise?
