Soon after the pieces of the Dead Man Walking hit the ground, Snowy starts running towards the church like Boon.

As the dust clears, you take the briefest moment to collect your thoughts, then sprint down the road toward the church.  As you round the last house, a horrifying sight meets your eyes: the church is burning.

A harried-looking Father Brelden is hurrying among several prone figures, the more placid and graceful Rainfall following behind with a look of intense sadness on her face.  As he passes near, you notice a gash on Father Brelden's forehead that he seems to be ignoring.  He mutters worriedly, "Have to get to Sir Aundors, have to make sure to save that arm.  Have to save something for Sir Aundors."

You see Squire Mainor rushing about with Deepshadow, Romi, and Aurua, trying to put out the fire.  Sitting on the ground and roaring in pain is Sir Aundors, whose mangled left arm is being unsuccessfully tended to by Coman.

In the center of all this commotion, a mountain of a man, dressed in uncured leathers hung with dozens of feathers and bones, lies dead on the grass.  Sir Aundors' greatsword pins him to the ground through the midsection.  Near him is the partially-decayed corpse of an enormous polar bear.

Lying unmoving atop one of the barrows, looking serene, is Moonglow.  There is a black scorch mark in the center of her chest, and she is not breathing.

As Isaac rounds the bend, his eyes widen, and he stops for a half a second in shock. As he does, the greatsword in his grasp hits the ground, and as soon as the ring of metal sounds from the impact, Isaac bolts to help with the water. He wished so very much he'd paid any attention to Father Brelden's lessons on healing, or learned some of his mothers tricks. But he knows he would be put to better use putting out the flame, maybe saving some of Brelden's medicines.

As she witnesses the devasted scene, Snowy gradually loses speed and finally stops a bit past Father Brelden. She takes a few seconds to take a deep breath and, enraged, she firmly walks to Squire Mainor. When she gets to him, she yells with all her voice "You see what happens when something weird is going on and you put us aside?! We could have helped here! We're not defenseless, you know!", her curtain of hair moving swiftly as she waves her head and fists left and right in rapid succession.

Frowning at the scene she said nothing, but thought  'Papa said there'd be days like this.'

Boon

As the boy approaches the scene he looks on in terror. Dumbfounded by whats going on he stands motionless in front of the blazing church, seemingly hypnotized by the flames.

Gilgrim

Shaking his head at the devastation, Gilgrim surveys the scene.  Only a poorly defended human town could have fallen to attack this easily.  They should dig into the ground and build proper defenses..  He looks around for ways to help and looks for the first people he can find organizing the effort.

When he saw the body of his caretaker, the boy became very sad. He fell on his knees, tears gushed from his eyes. The woman was like a mother to him.

Squire Mainor, struggling with a heavy bucket full of water, barely spares Snowy a glance.  "Not now, girl.  We have to get this fire put out."  He turns for a moment and yells, "Coman!  Can you see to these kids?"

The fire seems to be coming under control, and as Squire Mainor heaves his bucket onto the flames, that section of the church goes out, still steaming and smoldering slightly.

Father Brelden at this point has made it to Sir Aundors' side, and Coman is looking on uselessly as the priest tends to Aundors' arm.  At Squire Mainor's call, Coman jumps and turns, looking relieved to have something to do, and begins gathering all of you again.  "Come along," he says, "we'll be busy here for quite some time.  Why don't you all stay the night at the Arms, Frissa will make things comfortable, and we'll get this sorted in the morning?"

Kyle

The young wizard follows his friends to the church where he's rendered paralyzed by the result of the attack. Numb, Kyle stands, his gaze lost, his legs unable to move, his spirit crushed.

How... What...

His eyes then linger on Moonglow, his teacher whom just a few minutes before was showing interest for the discovery he and Gilgrim had made, was talking, walking, smiling.

People around him start to blur and sounds get more distant as his mind shuts down.
Believe.

Stands stock still and just observes, not wanting to change how people are seeing what is going on, with a deep personal understanding of the grief process

"Ugh... Whatever!" says the girl furiously as she turns around and goes back in a hurry to the group and Coman. Her reply to the man's proposal to the group clearly sounds like a cat hissing out of anger.

((I doubt anyone has Feline has language known [except maybe ImperatorK's kitty?] so the PCs/NPCs around that cares may just find this weird, or not. For the sake of it, if anyone do understand the language, she's just spiting random swear words.))

As the fire settles down, Isaac gives an irritated glance at their being brushed off, and retrieves his greatsword from where he'd dropped it. He knows none of the others would pay attention, so he decides to ask the one greatest source of magic he knows; his mother. But she'd be busy; he decided to try and listen to whomever was making the assessment of the church; if they deemed it safe, he decided he'd try and assist in getting Brelden's things out. It's at this point he notices Moonglow, and his heart and face sank.

Boon
[spoiler]
1d20+6=22, 1d20+6=12 Hide/MoveSilent.
Boon glares at the Squire Mainor as he brushes off Snowy. As the Squire starts to instruct Coman, Boon knows thats coming. He decides to sneak out of view while he is still unnoticed.  :devil The boy picks up a small pebble and tosses it over at his sister Kara, signaling to her that he isnt going back to the Inn. He then ducks into the shadows.
Pffft. The Squires a jerk.. We helped kill that thing, we should be able to help out where ever we like....... I wonder whats going on back here.. Boon thinks to him self as he begins to sneak through the shadows over to the Church.
search/spot (1d20+3=20, 1d20+6=14) ((I am going to sneak around the church, then go inside and sneak around. All the while looking for anything out of the ordinary, or anything that just catches my eye. Also note: I still have the stone at this point I believe. edit: it will be a quick check unless i find anything, if nothings found i head back after afew mins))

Startled as he notices something while standing there observing, takes a long deep breath and whispers thank the spirits, he's gone and crumples to the ground as if the last finally relieved of an enormous burden.

After a minute or two, he gets up quickly and rushes over, then points at the man pinned to the ground by the greatsword we need to burn that body quickly, or else he may come back to life.... Now! none of you have heard Willow be this forceful... But you sense he is worried, as he runs to the edge of the woods and starts dragging small logs over.

Surveying the scene, Legion is transfixed. It looks quite like many other battlefield aftermaths he's seen in his dreams, but he knows that this is real, while those others... well, at least they are not anything recent. Willow's forceful command jogs him out of his revelry, and he turns and breathes a gout of flames upon the body of the man.
