Q 204 Since Fire Seeds does have a random variable in it (damage), can it be applied to the number of holly berry bombs it creates?  While that is not a random amount, it is still a variable one, and the feat does say that all variable numeric effects are increased by one-half.  The only mention of random is for whether the feat can be applied to the spell.  Or is there errata I haven't seen?

Q205 So how does Phaerimm Hatchling spellcasting work, exactly?  I can see two readings of it: a) that they cast as sorcs of their character level (essentially free gestalt), or b) that they cast as a first-level sorc with a CL equal to their character level.  Which is correct?  And therefore, what kind of spellcasting does a Phaerimm hatchling Sorc 3 have (for example)?

Q46 How exactly does Magic Jar work? Has anybody ever made a breakdown, as surreal did for the polymorph line of spells? Specifically, I have a few starting questions:
  • What is your creature type when you occupy a body?
  • Do buffs stay with your body or your soul?
  • Can you, or can you not occupy bodies of life forces powered by negative energy?

Q 192: A Half-Fiend with 7 or more HD gets Poison as a Spell-like ability.  What happens when you apply the Mortal Bane feat to poison?

A conservative estimate would make me think it should be treated like sneak attack applied to an enervation attack: the sneak attack deals "negative energy" hit point damage (much like being struck with an inflict spell.)  Not saying the mortal bane damage should be 'negative energy;' just that it should be something else, not extra Con damage.

A192: Good catch. It should be something else, but RAW, it is extra Con damage.

Q 206: The magic items Talismans from Oriental Adventures...  There's not a whole lot of rules concerning what spells are able to be imbued into one (unlike potions, which specify personal range spells are a no-no).  Otherwise, the two magical items seem fairly identical (the pricing structure is the same, max spell level you can put in one is 3rd.)  But the Talismans in OA list an item of expeditious retreat, which is a personal range spell.

So does that mean I'm good to go on making a Talisman of Shield? Or a Talisman of True Strike?  Or Hunter's Mercy?*

*It does state that Talismans are almost always defensive in nature, and offensive ones are all but unheard of, but then on the chart lists one that grants Haste...

Q 207: Why is a potion of Enlarge Person 250 gp, when the pricing structure for potions says it should be 50 gp?

That's a holdover from 3.0. It should be 50, but someone was feeling 3.0-y and nobody else noticed.

Q208 What are the best weapon enhancements to put on a staff wielded by a mage, who never wants to get into melee combat?  Obviously they're going to be defensive enchantments...

Nerveskitter is a +5 untyped bonus.

So yes, they'd all stack.

A205: It is very clearly based of RHD, like anything else that has innate spellcasting. Considering the low LA value and the fact that they cast AS SPELL LIKE ABILITIES, trying to bend the RAW to a very cheesy interpretation will be frowned upon by all. RAW, the wording is "caster level equal to phaerimms character level" and "sorcerer levels stack with its base casting ability." That base casting ability is RHD, so the only wiggle room is some extra CL boosts, not casting progression. A strict DM would only allow the first spell casting level to stack with other levels for CL boosts, even after taking sorc levels. This would be a good nerf, but not one I believe is supported RAW.

I hope you haven't been getting ideas from GiTP

I was getting confused from GitP.  I'm glad you cleared it up.  :)

So... bear with me... the spellcasting a Phaerimm gets from taking levels in sorcerer... is still SLA's?

Q 209 Is there a way to increase the Dex modifier of hide armor besides segmenting it or giving it Nimbleness?

Make it out of Leafweave, from RoW.  However, it drops the armor bonus by 1.

Mythril should work as well, unless you're thinking about druids.

Yes. Remember that a strict DM could have a RAW interpretation and say no, but it is not the majority opinion, nor mine. That's why phaerimm as so incredibly powerful (like mini-sharns)
