I admit that I am completely mystified by the purposes behind this proposed house rule.

I often use the modified for less rolling suggestions that Wizards posted once upon a time, attached to the original Delve I think.

P.S.:  I've had pretty good luck with Meet-up.com, especially if you are in or near a city.

less dice rolling without a fixed value, not that the dice value is going to swing much

On Rogue crits;  Making it a crit is bad.  Making it double damage is slightly better, but you end up with Str based ubercharger rogues.  Also, double 1d4-1 is WAY less than 1d4-1+3d6.  So halfling rogues with low strength don't exist anymore.

If you want to have less dice rolling, have the rogue add double their rogue level to damage if they sneak attack.
I could get behind that. Its functionally the same and a lot easier when you're not using a rollbot.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"
