Game Thread, Chapter 3: In times like these...

"Leave that part to me." Raoul explains simply. "We merely need to provide them with something ominous enough that they cannot afford to attack it."

[Bozwevial]

"If we're resolved, then, I'd suggest we begin preparations straight away. Too much delay might hurt our chances. First things first, though."  The assassin turns to Sammael. "It would be ever so wonderful if you could get these fucking bloodstains out of my armor."

[PhaedrusXY]

The devil laughs and dissappears, coming back with yet another wand. "That should do it."

Inscribed in infernal in large pink letters it says "Apprentice wand". (It's a wand of Prestidigitation.)

[Bozwevial]

Marlowe raises an eyebrow at the proffered wand. "Funny how you managed to come up with that so quickly. Is this from your personal store, or do you cater to the whims of those you consider your inferiors on a regular basis?" He takes it between two fingers, as though picking up something terribly filthy.

[VennDygrem]

Cade shrugs, saying, "I suppose there's no time like the present, appropriately enough."

[Bozwevial]

The clerk pauses and raises a finger. "One moment." He reaches into a belt pouch and produces several sheets of parchment that look similar to the one with Sammael's writ, along with several tiny vials and a pen. He kneels down, lighting a small flame to heat the paper, and carefully writes a long paragraph in Abyssal. The ink is suspiciously shiny and almost appears as though it's crawling around the page.

Marlowe waves the document around gently and hands it to Raoul. "Use that if you feel it'll be helpful. Careful, it's slightly poisonous."

[spoiler]Forgery check as necessary. It should be at a total bonus of +23 with the alchemical paper.[/spoiler]

"Good thinking, Marlowe. Not entirely sure how much use we'll get out of this, but with any luck I won't botch our disguise too horribly." Raoul noted with as much optimism as he could.

Xuuvosic shakes his head. "I gotta be fucking crazy to sign off on this shit, but fuck it. I've got your backs. Sammael, we're gonna need a bunch of Sending Stones. When the survivors of this slaughter are ready for pick-up gimme a call. But you gotta be ready to jump in the pit when you use the stone, cause I ain't sticking around do dance with no motherfucking Balor. We clear?"

"Let's go get our asses kicked then. Can I get some help with the disguise or something? It's not my specialty."

[PhaedrusXY]

Sammael says "Was that request for me, or someone else? If it was for me, how about a "potted plant" disguise? I think that would match your personality rather well. I could arrange one for you..." He smirks.

[Kuroimaken]

"I was going to tell you to go to Hell, but you work there and we're not done anyway. No, I was thinking of a disguise that would send a Balor in awe and NOT get me perforated by weapons in the process."

[PhaedrusXY]

He replies "I grant Wishes, not Miracles." and rolls his eyes.

[VennDygrem]

"What he needs is to not have his disguise seen through right away. If that's impossible, then we might just need a particularly clever lie."

[spoiler]Since Balors have True Seeing, it's going to be pretty hard to have any convincing disguise through magical means; any physical disguise is likely to be sufficiently convincing. Maybe since you're a cambion, you could be the half-fiendish offspring of some demon lord? A good, plausible lie might suffice, especially with a casting of glibness, and Marlowe's forgery might act as "proof" of your heritage. Thus, the lie becomes the "disguise," though honestly, not sure how much a Balor will care who the heck you are and how scary your daddy is, so to speak.[/spoiler]

"Ris-Janna." He turned to the rogueish woman. "Do you have any skill in making mundane disguises?"

Raoul scratched the back of his head.

"Or do you happen to know anyone who does, Sammy?"

[spoiler]A mundane disguise would be best, as it wouldn't be immediately spotted. Raoul's mother and father are both unknown to him, so lying about who they are would be much simpler. Glibness alone might be insufficient though, let's make sure he can lie his ass off. I remember there are a couple of divine spells up to 2nd level as well as a bard spell of 4th level that should enable some pretty fancy tricks. Guidance of the Avatar and Improvisation.[/spoiler]
