Do I see a loophole here, or am I being dense?
« on: August 17, 2011, 04:13:32 AM »
The Manyfang dagger (SK152) states:
...A Manyfang dagger deals quadruple damage on each successful hit, or quintuple on a critical hit.
Granted, it's a specific weapon (+1 Dagger) and costs 32,302gp.

It doesn't however state that only the base damage is multiplied. In fact, it specifically states what happens on a crit, so it's obviously not a critical effect. It straight up quadruples the damage.

...Power throw anyone?

Does this work the way it seems to though? Is only weapon damage multiplied (that seems to be RAI) or is it all damage? If so, I'm using this on every character who can use one.

EDIT: ABILITY DAMAGE.

You get the same returns using a one-handed weapon in two hands.  No reason to take the extra -2 to attack for the second size increase.

According to the MIC, you can take properties off of unique weapons and foist them off onto other weapon types.

Manyfanged valorous lance on a charge.

Also, the reason to make a manyfanged weapon into a two-handed one is for Strength bonus and Power Attack returns.

Also, use this enhancement on a necklace of natural attacks (monk or unarmed swordsage unarmed strikes).

Those are exactly what I was talking about.

Quote
If a one-handed weapon is wielded with two hands during melee combat, to damage rolls.
Quote
If you attack with a two-handed weapon, or with a one-handed weapon wielded in two hands, instead add twice the number subtracted from your attack rolls.

I'm not certain where are those rules about the taking those abilities off unique weapons and w/e? Is that the part on page 233? If so, putting manyfanged on something else would cost 30k..?

It's actually not unique, just specific.

A Manyfang Weapon of Unerring Direction (MIC) and Ruin (ELH) would be made of WIN and AWESOME.

Add Kaorti Resin for fun.

Use a Kukri or 2 + Blood in the Water.

You can Crit objects and constructs as if they were living creatures, a crit from you does x7 damage from normal, you ignore miss chances, DR and Hardness...

Getting into a vault was never easier.

Plus, since you can Crit Objects, you can charge Blood in the Water to Infinity by dragging it on the ground - expect Druids to attack you on sight for bringing Ruin to the world (you leave a crater behind you, just walking...).

Add Bodyfeeder (+3), and you have a TON of THP, all the time, by attacking the ground - you treat it as a Living Creature, so Bodyfeeder works.

Also, add collision to the manyfanged weapon. +20 damage a hit isn't too shabby.

it would make the basic flaming/shocking enchantments a lot better if they were on a manyfang weapon...

I'd pay 30k to upgrade my flaming weapon. I think I'm going to legitimately use that for one of my mid-power characters. (or any character who just has TERRIBLE damage.

How do you get x7 ? The Kaorti Resin makes it x4, but i cant seem to figure out where you get the rest.

Probably because it's manyfang. A normal Manyfang dagger has 4x on a normal hit, 5x on a crit. Easy to move that up to that a normally x4 weapon does x7 on a crit.

If we really want to be gruesome about it, stack effects that inflict ability damage on a Manyfang weapon.
