What about Energy Transformation Field (SpC)?  If you can get a creature with an at-will ability or quick recharge (say a breath weapon) to power it, you can have unlimited castings of any spell you hook into the Field.

Can a spell like that be modified (excluding researching a custom version, and/or homebrew) to be cast on an object, and have its area move around with the object?  Cause this would make a lovely helmet or mask for a dragon shaman, dragonfire adept, or dragonborn with the Heart draconic aspect.
"We managed to make an NPC puke an undead monster."
"That sounds like a victory to me."

Can we modify it with Ocular Spell?

Not unless we modify it with something else first.  Ocular Spell wants a casting time of 1 full round or less, ETF has a casting time of 4 rounds.  Range Close, area 40-foot radius spread, normally.

This has to be workable, somehow.  If for no other reason than the entertainment value of tying in Summon Undead and having a dragonborn necromancer that breathes cones of zombies.

Perhaps we can Sculpt it into a Cone, then.  It would still be an emanation, which means that it extends from the origin for the duration, and Cones originate from you.  That works for Detect Magic...

Still it seems like shapechange come two levels early this X-mas. You just pop open a field, and have it cast shapechange whenever it is full off spells for it. Then you activate your immovable rod a bunch of times in there, and badabing badabum you have some nice shapechanging. You can use the tricks from your shapechanging for more goodness.

It also grants an easy access to spells that you don't want to cast everyday, just have a large enough sanctuary with different transformation fields set up, when enough spells are cast in a certain field, you get greater magic weapon, magic vestment, and all that junk cast for just clicking your rod.
Monks are pretty much the best designed class ever.

OMG, this spell is great and....whacked!  I can't figure out *how* you are supposed to link a spell!  Can it be any spell?  It doesn't say any spell you know, or you can cast, or you have prepared, or anything?  Can anyone figure it out?

It is rather vague.

The cast spell functions as if cast by you in terms of duration and all level-based spell effects.

To me, this implies that you have to cast the linked spell.

I think the 4 round casting time includes the casting of the linked spell.

Or spells you do cast everyday, and now those slots are open for other things.

This.  I think that, given their costs, ETFs are better used for spells that you want to spam endlessly, wands are better for low-level spells you cast frequently, while scrolls are still best for the spell you cast on rare occasion.

Total agreement here, that's what I meant although it came out reversed.

I don't think the cost in XP are that great. With just a minor expenditure of 3k Exp you could have up to 12 buff spells able to go off all day for anyone who enters your sanctuary with an item that can continiously cast spells. If you charge people for the casting of those spells by teleporting them there and then lending them an item to activate it. You could make loads of moneys by just having people walk through your sanctuary and get a bunch of effects on themselves. Works for your adventure party as well.

Magic mouth can be a fun one to play with.

Cast on all your individual items to raise an alarm if someone tries to steal it.  You're not going to make your spot vs the rogue's pickpocket, and now you don't have to :)

Put 'em on stones, so that when they're out of the bag if anyone comes near w/o speaking the password, they raise an alarm.  Set the rocks out at night and sleep peacefully.

Put 'em on arrows to say WHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE when shot.

Put 'em on arrows to say something after being shot, to distract guards.

Put 'em on your clothes to say "good job" when you cast a spell :) Chain 'em so that this can go on all day (by which I mean the first MM goes off after the first spell, the 2nd goes off only after a spell and if the 1st MM has spoken, the 3rd goes off after the 2nd, etc)

Put 'em on the fighter's shield to say "Not in Face" when combat starts.

Put 'em on a sword to say "Oh, the humanity!" when it gets plunged into someone.
