Clockwork Bees
« on: May 24, 2011, 05:56:45 AM »
I've been asked to design a clockwork bee a friend remembers from a Monster Manual or critter book of some kind as a class feature.  Thing is, I don't remember any clockwork bees.  Anyone have any ideas?

Scouring Construct (MM5), perhaps?

mm5 has the clockwork mender. looks like a bee with a face. A swarm of them can repair constructs.

Closest to a normal bee would probably just be an Effigy using the template from complete arcane. It can be applied to vermin and for a single hit dice Tiny one it only costs 500 gp to make. :)

Actually I didn't read far enough, it's 500gp to make the body, but another 2000 to animate it per Hit Dice.

Well, Effigy Bee Swarm perhaps? Treating a swarm as a single unit would drive the construction cost down to something feasible.
The mind transcends the body.
It's also a little cold because of that.
Please get it a blanket.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"
