Being medium optimized (mostly with equipment) as an archer wouldn't be a bad thing either ... splitting, seeking, etc.

Also, with just a few feats/items you can make a very dangerous charger.

This probably wouldn't require too big an investment, and could possible be worked to help take care of problems with range/travel and hiding.
