Group Dynamic
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:44:21 PM »
I didn't know wiether to put this in the tale spinning section or this one, so I figure this one but any mods feel free to move it if need be.

Now when I speak of group dynamic I am not speaking of how well the players get along with one another and/or the DM.  I am instead speaking on that magic that happens when a group of souls, no matter how different or similar they may be, gather together to adventure or what have you.  Now I, personally, am not thinking of contrived means to get people to work together for the sake of a game.  No, I mean how is say a fair majority of anime there seems to be a group or groups of characters that have many personalities yet work together towards a common goal (or as common as it can be).

As players and DMs here I am curious how, or if any, of you try to put this group dynamic into either your characters, settings, npcs, or even the PC groups themselves?  If you do strive for this or even get it into your game sessions how did it go?  Did you have bumps along the way?  Did it feel contrived or cliche?

Thanks.

I do this with every game, it is more about getting the players on board with an direction versus the characters.

Be explicit, and give enough of a direction and discuss the best way to get everyone plugged into the game. I find that it works for me, and the people I like to play with.
