Since these are easily cheap enough for most folks to craft themselves, you could have a bunch of intelligent items all with the same goal of your choosing (an obvious purpose might be "help its owner rise to power" or something). Then at least everyone's on the same page, even if some of the items have different ideas about how things ought to be done (which might be REALLY funny to play). And some of those dedicated powers are amazing... including True Resurrection 1/month (costs just 4kgp on a Shuriken!), Mass Inflict Light Wounds at will (Amazing for a Necromancer), Dimensional Door at will (note the item casts it, so you can full attack and then it teleports you), and a straight up +2 luck bonus on attacks, saves, and checks (including Initiative!).
Be aware that the more powerful an item is, the stronger its ego, so you'll want a strong will save or at least one of your items will randomly get to control you once in a while (any time there's a personality conflict, so make items that won't conflict!). If it mostly wants to do what you want that's not the worst thing in the world and could be really entertaining, but it could get annoying eventually.
