The most memorable character I had in that range was a wilderness bandit type, with like seven classes to her name. :) Dunno if 'multiclassed amalgam' is an acceptable class answer.  :p

I enjoy psions at all levels, so I suppose they qualify.

It's a fun time to be a cleric. Most of my clerics I've played fall somewhere around there.

Racewise, whisper gnome, strongheart halfling, and dragonwrought kobold I like at these levels for these classes. Also have a fond spot for other subraces of halfling and kobold.

Insert whatever prestige class I'm playing with at the time. That varies a lot.

Ooh gnome illusionist/cleric shadowcraft mage.  :D I love gnomes and kobolds alike, curiously.

It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.

At those levels, I'd plated a Sorcerer, a Swiftblade and a Sublime Chord. Hard to say which one was the most fun.
Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

Related question:

I'm visiting some old friends this weekend and we're starting a 13th level game.  It's gestalt, which I have no experience with.  The other player is a Cleric//Fighter and melee types who will probably have Leadership.

I'm playing a Wizard/Malconvoker with a dip into Runecaster so he's a wizard who wears heavy armor (b/c I want to, I know it's suboptimal).  What should I put on the other side?  Here's what I've been considering.

  • Crusader dip -- need it for the heavy armor proficiency, and White Raven Tactics is always nice.  I also think I might be able to do some good keepaway, possibly, with Thicket of Blades and maybe Stand Still.
  • Factotum -- lots of Intelligence synergy.  And, you get to blow away the action economy, especially if you get a few Fonts of Inspiration.  Cunning Breach also sounds cool, though it will most likely be irrelevant due to the spells I'll be casting.
  • Binder -- I could probably con my DM into reflavoring Zceryll into more demonic stuff and letting the Malconvoker stuff affect it.  My problem is that Binder is a bit complicated, and w/ the possible exception of Z, I have no idea what the hell I'd bind.
  • Bard (and maybe Marshall and similar stuff) -- pairs summoning with buffing.  This is, of course, a crazy good idea, though perhaps maybe *too* good with stuff like Dragonfire Inspiration.
  • Something warrior like, such as Warblade or more Crusader -- kind of obvious, I guess.  Gives me more of a gish feel, which wasn't really what I was looking for, despite the armored mage concept.  But, I think I could make it work.  Also makes him more of a tank.  Could possibly be combined with the aforementioned bard.
  • Warlock -- is an idea, but I think Binder is probably better (assuming I can figure out something to bind ...).  Blasting would be a nice, if random add-on for something to do in the rounds that I'm not summoning things.  But, it also seems to muddy up the concept a bit.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.  We use all 3.5 sources, and some 3.0 ones with approval.  We're aiming for solid, but not over the top optimization.  So, no heavy use of Celerity or CoP for example, but fairly favorable house rules or reflavoring.  The Cleric // Fighter4/Paladin 4/something else warrior-like 5 with DMM Quicken is probably a good example of the level of optimization we're looking for, which is pretty high but not all the way up there.

Gestalt = win.
I don't employ memes. Mass-produced ammunition, even from reputable manufacturers, tends to malfunction on occasion.

Unbeliever: How many actions do you need per round?  That determines your Factotum level req.

Also, please take the Diamond Mind save swaps.  Don't auto-fail vs. dominate because you rolled a 1 on Will!
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Swiftblade!   :thumb
Some of it's abilities are peaking at that point and you are still gaining more.

All of them:
Cleric, Wizard, Druid, Binder, Sorcerer, Dread Necromancer.

Swiftblade, with Wizard or Bard entry.

Level 12:
Wildshape Ranger 5/MoMF 7
Artificer 12 with Unfettered Heroism-Wand Surge abuse.

Those are the ones of the top of my head.
There are probably more of 'em.

I always have fun as a charging pouncing flail wielding battle jumping leap attacking headlong rushing knockdown-improved tripping dungeon crashing barbarian that borders on your enemies worst nightmare when you get close to being your DM's favorite monster on a low will save roll. I find the look of fear in a rogue's eyes hilarious when his flanking partner looks at him and says "I power attack you."

Anything that can planeshift the entire party.

The best way to derail the campaign is to just not BE there as it unfolds.
