They could prod it with their 11' poles? Especially if they knew there wasn't supposed to be a pit there in the first place.

I dare anyone to find a hole in that logic.

Silent image of a smooth floor section a millimeter above a carefully concealed floor trap.  To spot it, they need someone with a true seeing AND enough search ranks to see the actual trap(by the time they interact with the illusion, it's too late).  Good way to mess with rogues (just make sure the trap targets Fort).
Unless you use marbles to search

Well, the marbles don't constitute direct interaction, a pressure plate/life sensor wouldn't be affected, and if the illusory layer is thin enough you'll need really good Spot to notice the difference.  Magical senses would still defeat this though - which is why this is best used on overconfident mundanes.

Er, fake pits will need to be done with a thin illusory layer above a normal floor, so you're using trompe l'oeil, i.e. fake 3D perspective... "Give me a Craft: painting check!"

Walls are the most basic and one of the best uses, as has been said.
I like making ghosts (or other incorporeal creatures) with it, since they're 1) scary, 2) appropriately silent, 3) hard and undesirable to interact with. The ghosts can be random or they can rise from the corpse of a just-killed enemy...

It's good to mix up real and illusory as well, when one can: throw up a Blockade (CS) then complete it with a matching illusory wall.

In battle, make pseudo-mirror images of your party.  It's like a mass, renewable version of mirror image from level 1.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

Illusion of a horde of summoned monsters, dump several real ones into it.

It's also a little cold because of that.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

only problem i have w/ using it for creatures, is, i dont think it can move? its just a static image.

you could certainly augment your decent sized army in the distance with it, but up close, i would not want to bet my life on it.

While the image itself is immobile, the image is also pretty large and you can move the things in the 'display area' around.

They could prod it with their 11' poles? Especially if they knew there wasn't supposed to be a pit there in the first place.

Show me a Gelatinous Cube with an 11' Pole and I will show you hateful lies.
Cube-man needs his pants tailor-made.

Mostly because he's cube-shaped.

Also, note what he's cranked himself up to.
